Old Ludwig’s

Oyster blue pearl but beyond that it's hard to say anything but it sounds like they've been messed with if the floor tom has bowties around the bottom as you describe (assuming they are even Ludwig double ended lugs and not some other brand). Hard to tell what someone who would do that would have also done to the rest of them. 1700 sounds like maybe about 1200 too much.

From Spread5150

The snare drum has a 7 digit serial number 3140794. The rest the best I can tell are 68 ish The floor tom bottom lugs are dual lugs that have a lug insert facing the batter head which makes no sense since the top one does not have one facing that direction. Over they play and I plan to play them. The pawn shop wants 1700 for them. I said 8 and we are talking about it but I had no idea what they where. Also I notice the tom mount is I steered in the bass drum not on a rail as I’ve seen. Any input on what I have here (that’s all the pics I have for the moment.

Are the floor tom's bottom lugs like my first picture? That would be a very strange (and destructive) mod.. Is the tom mount like my second pic or does each tom have a "tube"? It does sound like there's some funny business going on with this kit. When you get more pics try uploading them directly to the post (additional options/manage attachments/attach files). Usually when a pic won't upload it's because it's too big http://vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=1713 If you resize your pics no bigger than in my link they'll work. Cheers!

Just a heads up, your Photobucket page doesn't work. I can view the thumbnails but can't open the individual pages.

Any other input on which model this was. It has the ported bass drum and these drums def have reinforcement hoops. I have them down to 700 for the set. I figured I could get the lower Tom lugs swapped out.

The metal snare is in rough shape but everything does work.

Holy thread resurrection from 2 years ago. You still after this kit?? Those is a strange grouping of those sized drums you've listed?? The 13" tom badge backwards placement shows it was probably mounted on the bass drum with a 12" as well. What is the bass drum size? 18 or 20??

That snare is Model LM411 Super Sensitive.

Wow the pawn shop still has these after 2 years?,

The snare is a super sensitive looks a bit rough, the kit is missing a 12" tom, with 10 lugs on the bass it's a 22, and hopefully the lug holes on the 16 haven't been altered to fit bow ties, but I think they may have different spacing

So it’s a 13 a 18 and 20. The snare they asked “ want also “ so I said of course. It is a bit pitted but all the mechanics work smoothly. The snare is the least of my worries...

The pawn shop sold this kit.. a guy paid 600 into it (on 1000 tab) and never came back. His time ran out and they reposted it on offer up so I went to check it out again. I played with the price and they let it go ( I got new sunglasses and a pearl cymbal stand in on the deal )

I got it home and took it apart ... from what I can tell the 13 is in the best shape. Edges look pretty good. Clean. All appropriate hardware and it has its muffle. Cool.

The 18 (which I thought was a 16 the whole time and I’m happy about a big drum ) has a split bearing edge. I’ll get some pictures up. A tom leg which doesn’t match, I didn’t catch that and I’m lucky I suppose. They mounted one screw from the bow tie on the reso head side but didn’t modify the shell for the 2nd. So if I can get a set of lugs for the bottom I’ll be back in business there. The hole pattern left looks like the batter side ones so I’m happy about that. The rims on the 13/16 both look pretty good overall. Prob hit them with some windex and 0000 steel wool and call it good.

The 20 in bass drum has 2 or 3 turn tuning handles that do not match the rest. The rims do not appear to be original or original replacements. The bearing edge also shows some splitting :/. The legs seem original. But what really flusters me about this drum is Tom mount. It’s old as hell and says Ludwig all over it. Even the bolts inside the bass say Ludwig and it Appears to be right for the area (to me). But from inside the shell there is some splitting around it. The inside of the shell is black and I’m assuming it was painted black along the way. The split area around the Tom mount inside the shell is also black as if painted over. Where bass drums ever painted black inside ?

I think I could get them up and playing if the shells edges can be fixed. I have no idea if edges that are splitting can be fixed and recut what seems worth it ?

As far as the snare. I’ll strip it down clean it. New heads. Oil or grease what needs it and call it good. Beat the hell out of it.

Pics to come
