Most iconic or recognizable drum parts Last viewed: 20 seconds ago

Just curious what other peoples thoughts would be on this. What do you thin are the most iconic or recgnizable drum parts that you can think of? Those drum parts that you hear just a second or two of and you know the drummer, the song and the band instantly. For instance:

Steve Gadd - Fifty Ways to Leave Your Lover or Late in the Evening

Alex Van Halen - Hot For Teacher / Everybody Wants Some

John Bonham - Moby Dick / Rock N' Roll

Joey Kramer - Walk This Way

Gene Krupa - Sing, Sing, Sing

I am not asking for the best drum parts, just the ones that are the most roccognizable.

Ringo Starr: Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise), Strawberry Fields Forever (actually two different tracks dubbed together/simultaneously to make it such an iconic track)

Keith Moon: well...I'm stumped with Moonie....so many great tracks to choose from that are iconic, and Moonie was so distinctive a player......no one played like moonie before during or since.

Charlie Watts: Monkey Man. No body lays that groove down like Charlie does.

Adler's Paradise City Intro. Totally Iconic! Boom, pop, boom-pop....boom, pop, boom-pop, etc... After four notes, everyone on the planet knows the jam!

Keith Moon's songs that open the CIS shows are definitely iconic. They are ingrained in millions and millions of American brains now and very recognizable, since the shows aired.

Born in the USA drumming is iconic, I am assuming Weinberg, but not 100% on that. All the snare pops are easily recognizable.

And of course, Wipeout. Totally iconic, recognizable, all that......

Wipe Out - Sandy Nelson... for me and my generation, (THE) single most instantly recognizable drum beat ever. Before audience member requests made us sick of playing Free Bird, I was sick of people asking me if I could play Wipe Out! LOL

Next, I'd name the Bo Diddly Beat as a 'recognizable anywhere' drum beat.

Cool thread. Good read! I'm enjoying all the great picks.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Ok....here's one for all you "hairband" fans:

Tommy Lee: Primal Scream/Shout at the Devil/Dr. Feelgood....any of the three are instantly recognizable as Tommy Lee.

For all you "Grunge" guys:

Dave Grohl: Smells Like Teen Spirit.....no mistaking that opening drum fill.....

Dave Krusen: Pearl Jam's Ten album......Dave just killed it then dropped off the face of the earth.

And for all you jazzers:

Jimmy Cobb: from the Miles Davis Kind of Blue album: So What. That iconic accidental cymbal crash......ask him, he'll tell you it was a mistake that they kept in!
