Hello and heres my project! 69 Ludwig Silver Sparkle

Loading...

thanks everyone!

Im still slingy sitting for awhile as I have no cymbals or hardware of my own yet.

As I add bits and bobs to my kit, I will change out the borrowed bit and return them to their cases.

Im also going to replace all the heads on the borrowed kit as they were loaned to me with 0 tie heads on them. Its the least I can do after 3 years of playing them.

My new snare and hi-hats should be here by next weekend.

I need to look up the serial No. still: 234855

Its got an odd construction feature, well odd to me that is.

The wrap intersects the first layer of the shell:

I dont think this is the correct muffler though:

And here are my new to me Zildjian New Beats. These were the first Hi Hats I had when I was 12.

Man.....those turned out so nice!

I never have been much of a SS guy,but my old Ginger Baker fixation is starting to kick in again,so I think I want to put a double bass SS Luddy kit together....

I have a nice 60's 22" Shell/lugs/hoops already......

Last summer,a local friend PASSED on a 60's Luddy SS 12 and 13 tom,PLUS a cool metal Premier snare..... $100 for all!

I was with him at the time, but didn't have $100 on me. It was a a CL find.

I get sick still thinking about it!

Help Help Help!!!

Now, Im a pretty smart fella, but how the hell does this work?

The only way it will go in is if I face the adjustment screws towards the head? Thats just not right.

The strainer end is correct:

Screws in just fine.

Here is what I bought:

RESOLVED!!!!! flower

I picked up a Gibralter Snare wire set #SC-4467L for a 14" drum.

I picked up some extra strength cord and then went to Home Depot.

Bought a length of 1/8 Aluminum and went to town!!!

Excited

I made it work! Using an adapter plate I made for the Butt end, and a "cord keeper" for the strainer end I got it to work.

Holy COW is this thing loud.

Shawn M, this is one great thread!

Congrats on your beautiful drums - may you have long and happy time playing them! Just let me ask: What heads do you use on your BD?

Thanks
