Loading...

I have the following maple wood set, which I think is from the early to mid 70’s. What do you think it's worth.

12" Tom is Model 4415

14" Tom is Model 4417

14" Snare is Model 4158

18" Bass is Model 4244

Nice kit,Natural maple never goes out of style, and always makes for a classy jazz kit. There was a thread on cymbalholic a little while back, and a fellow that worked at a high end drum shop said that Jazz drummers were ready to pay up to 10,000 dollars for round badge 18 14 12 kits, close to that even if they had mods x holes and the like.Considering the sizes and finish I would think you could get top dollar for those,if they are in as good a shape as the snare looks to be and if no mods.I can't think of any 70's era kit that would bring more, whatever that would be.I couldn't begin to give you a figure, but a couple of thousand would not suprise me at all.

This is NOT a RB kit. I don't see quite that high a number. 7500-9000 would be more reasonable, give or take a grand in this economy. So, realistically speaking, and where you put it up for sale, with the fickleness we are seeing today, you could put it on ebay and KEEP IN THE USA, you wouldd see no less than 5000, possibly double that, like in 8000 range, on a good day. And that will also depend on the hardware package you have with it. Is it available, and is it all era correct in good to collector condition.

The bass drum has a Slingerland tomtom mount and Slingerland legs. And by the way, I didn't buy these from someone, I used them in my 20's when I studied jazz drums very seriously from one of the best teachers around.

I was making a joke on saying 10,000.00 to 12,000.00 i know it's not a RB set..I just don't like a post like this asking the worth of a set let them go fine out by checking Ebay and other vintage drums web site's ...Mikey

Listen guys, as a guy surfing the web when you see a forum called "Is this a good deal? - How Much is it Worth?", you figure that the intent of that forum is to provide quotes.

As I said, these drums were my babies over 30 years ago, and I love them back then, but I don't play any longer so I figured it's time to make some room and sell them into a nice new home.

I didn't buy them at a garage sale. I was just looking to get an approximate value.

So Mikey, if I treaded on somebody's toes in this forum, by posting my question, I'm sorry.

Regardless, they're sold, so it's a done deal, and you probably won't see me here again.
