Gretsch Jazz Set from the 70's - what's it worth? Last viewed: 10 seconds ago

Personally I think its crap that someone comes here for a question and people mess with them! Its a "vintage" drum forum, and like the fellow said the heading on the topic says what it says. If you don't want to answer, don't, but don't give this forum a bad name by being an *******!

Kind of a drag that he took my joke wrong. I yam what I yam. Kiss

Honestly though, if anyone took the " 72,496.28 give or take a mitten " seriously, ... well, what else can I say to that.

ablatt DID have a point. The section IS titled "Is this a good deal? - How Much is it Worth?" That perhaps, kind of, maybe, sort of, in an unclear way *might* lead somebody to believe that they can come to this site and ask how much their kit is worth.

Just sayin'...

HOWEVER, if you read the heading David added a few weeks ago....he could have followed the directions there, and not bother us when he, or anyone like him, is likely to never come back and contribute to the community anyway. It has been hashed, over and over, that far too many people abuse us, and it DOES take up bandwidth to have those 2000 posts from people looking for nothing more than a free appraisal service.

We probably should put a disclaimer on there that Kev and Jaye and others like myself (the sued, the loud, the fairly unstable cat boilers) lurk about. I can't allow myself to feel bad about someone taking a joke wrong. It just wouldn't sit right with the parole officer. What I will do as a concession is allow VM2K to spot the insulted a fiver each time it occurs.

" 72,496.28 give or take a mitten " ... ouch.

Not to keep beating a dead horse but just for the heck of it I did a search for a 1970"s Gretsch jazz kit and got nothing. And Michael, I don't think anyone took offence to your jokes, they are far too outlandish for anybody to take them serious.

HOWEVER, if you google search "How much is my vintage Gretsch drum set worth?", the second entry to pop up is a link to THIS thread:

http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?p=74698

...which makes it appear as if this is commonplace at this site. I mean, the thread was started a couple of weeks ago, and there was nobody jumping on THIS guy for asking the question of his kit's worth. Just politely communicated information and even speculation as to its value. (and you wonder why the O.P. was so shocked to get bombarded with sarcasm and also a rant about people using this section of the site for its face-value purpose...)

And, really...who ever reads the instructions before they post on a forum? Those that post on forums know that it's all usually the same stuff...no swearing, no politics, no religion, "let's keep it clean" kinda stuff. New people don't see the point, as they're just here to ask a simple question and be on their way.
