Did Slingerland make a 3 ply RK in this era?

Loading...

I'll answer your questions with questions back. First off the shell splits are from slingerland using green wood not properly prepared for a drum shell the shells dried as they aged and now many of them have this very problem, how out of round is your shell?, I've not seen one Rk of the year model that you own that is in round, so if you wrap it how tight will the heads fit then?and how is wrapping the shell with a plastic wrap going to protect it from further splitting? and believe me I understand the brittle duco paint, my 30's Rk has some of it to!!

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

this is may be from the 40´s era.....Is as round as any 1 Ply RK ... there's no problem with the heads because the graps arent causing problems ....and I think the wrap can receive the pressure from the hardware to avoid further damage to the wood...and I agree about the DUCO finish delicacy......any advice?

the pic show the end of the round 1 ply wood shell

I think, given the amount of paint loss on that drum, I would have it repainted.

But not wrapped.
