Did Slingerland make a 3 ply RK in this era?

From Behindthebeat

Well she has arrived! 1 ply beauty. The top rim looks like COB and the bottom looks like NOB but I could be wrong. The snare wires are original too! It's a great drum. Thanks for all your replies.

Utterly stunning.. I would like to see the single ply shell/bearing edge for salivation purposes..

looks like the 50's but I bought a used throw off arm from vadrums. He also say's I have a 50's RK, the throw off I bought is just like the one that was broke and missing a part, the part I bought from vadrums. I've gone to the vintage ID drum section on this site my badge looks just like the one that is shown for a forties badge. Oh yeah I've replaced the snare wire with a pure sound snare for the RK series. So I gues we arn't the antique road show lol it's a nice drum sounds good so I'm just going to save it, play it once in awhile. I've bought a Rogers Dynasonic cob, 1975 vintage to be exact. bought it from the orignial onwer. Thought I 'd play that for a wile and save the slingy for spiecal occasions.

I'm still trying to figure what year my slingerland RK is.

1953-1954.

The "dogtag" badge was introduced in 1953. Your drum's streamline lugs were replaced by the Sound King lug style in 1955.

HI....i have some questions about my RK

the DUCO finish is deteriorating, and the wood has some surface cracks by the pressure of the strainer .... I think it would be a good idea to completely remove the duco finish and put a sparkle or pearl finish, so it could protect the wood from splitting from the pressure of the strainer and also look better.....what do you think about?...any advice or opinion?
