Somebody is offering these right here where I live. He wants $300. What do you guys think? I'm tempted but I'm seeing some missing parts. If these were Star, Pearl, or Hoshino, I'd say the price is a little high, but I don't know that much about Yams.

A guy had similar wrap drums for sale locally a few years ago. Just bass and small tom. He said he could never find a matching snare and the floor tom was even more difficult. The fact you have complete kit here may be worth it. Offer $275.
'63? I have read that '67 was the beginning for Yamaha drums. Looks good to me, even if the Willow is brown.
I think that's a really good deal if no extra holes with the snare, but then I'm Partial.
Brown Willow - 69-72. 5 play Birch/Luan if my reading is correct.
I'd do it - great built & sounding drums, not your typical MIJ fodder
Yeah, good deal with the matching snare.
There's a kit like that for sale nearby ...there asking $1600... No extra hardware,,Cyms

So long as you can afford it I would snag those up. I read on here that generally drummers regard those as better than any of the other MIJ at that time 0 'head and shoulders' above Pearl and Star.
The same thing can pretty much be found in an oval badge Rogers R-360/380. But then the 360/380 has Rogers designed hardware. This Yammy stuff reportedly is good stuff.
Looks like it is a score of a deal according to these observations:

I thought I would throw in that Tiger Eye just for fun (a real beauty!)

I've decided to buy them, made a deal and will pick them up this weekend. I'm told the bearing edge on the exposed side of the bass drum will bear a re-cut. Problem for me is that these old kits usually have the vintage round-over. I'm only set up to cut a double 45. Will it hurt the value for me to re-cut to a modern edge style?

I would just go and buy a round-over rotor bit. That way you can keep it to original and you won't wonder if it could sound better (if you had done the round-over). They are not that expensive. You are going to want to have one of those anyway. Search Ebay and see how affordable they are and you will see.
I used to think that those round-overs were all done by hand! (Slowly but surely I am learning!) Could you imagine those poor factory workers!
Glad you snagged them up!
