Are those staggered lugs on the toms? What kind of badge does this kit have? You need rubber on the legs but, that's not a big deal. That's a beautiful wrap! I collect Stars but, by no means am I an expert.Wanna sell them?

I'm not an expert either, but the lugs and hardware look like Star equipment to me. It closely matches my Star set. I would say from the early 70's though rather than 60's. IMO

A shot of the interior would help with that. Is the shell fairly thick and heavy and painted with grey sealer inside?

The wrap is a satin flame, kind of a ridged or 'brushed' plastic and is very delicate to clean. There are some threads on this forum about that topic so I would suggest that you reference them before you do any damage.

Looks like you are missing a set of tom lugs on the 13", bottom hoops for both mounted toms and the kick hoop as well. Shouldn't be too bad to find these parts if you want to fix them up.

Do some searching on this forum, there is quite a bit of information about your drums on this site.

I agree, probably early 70s. They are a Sonor copy i believe. The satin flame wraps don't wear well unfortunately. I have a similar kit that had a blue satin flame wrap but it was completely stuffed. Only cost $30 though. Here it is before and after plus the catalog page.

Flipped it pretty quick to a friend...

Fayray, did your kit originally have a cymbal mount on the bass? I have the identical Star Stream Custum as seen on the catalogue page but with the addition of a second 13 inch tom and a cocktail drum used as another floor tom. Originally one of the toms was covered in gold satin flame. I have been trying to find the connecting piece for the cymbal mount to the arm for years.

Fayray, are you going to install the inlays on your BD hoops from the wrap you had left over? Just curious. Nice wrap job!

Salty, I also have a Star made kit (Majestic) with a cymbal mount piece that is quite different as well - wonder if we have the same piece and are seeking the same piece.....(see attached)

Hey John and fishwaltz!

My drums are at my guitar player's house but, I believe the mount is a bit different. My second tom covers the mount as well. All I have is the triangular mount like yours and conical toothed piece which is part of the mount. The gentleman from whom I bought the bass says that he must have lost "the little piece somewhere". This was a few years ago. I have never even seen one. I'll try the old catalogues again and try to zoom in. maybe that will help. Very interesting though.
