1956/57 Gracy full drum kit WMP

Loading...

Went up on auction tonight in Japan - 7 days to go. Currently 300$ (equivalent) 28,000yen.

A 1956/57 Gracy full drum kit 4 piece. Looks to be in very good condition. I wonder if this is before Pearl began using the Gracy name? Enjoy. I am considering bidding but I have little space left at the moment! lol

Thanx for sharing this brand name with us, OsakaBop. I guess that 'Grace' never found their way to Europe ...

The rack tom seems to be a little 'hyper' (to speak with Tama's words :D)

and the booming bass drum (is it a 20" x 20"?): I've never seen that depth on other 50s/60s drumsets.

And the snare drum has some features that remind me of Trixon snare drums.

Man, if I were you, I'd dump something in a three day and set my sites on those. THAT is history. Amazing. I can't see they are for the Japanese market, seeing as all the text is English.

Wow!!! I have never seen a set like that ,i have seen many Gracy sets but not like that one. Thats a cool looking set..The lugs to me look like old 30s-40s slingerland radio kings, even the snare drum strainer looks like a clamshell strainer..If i was you i would do what ever you had to just to buy the set..Mikey

How goes the bidding on this kit? They are still one the nicest looking stencils I have ever seen, if not the nicest. Look at the badges, and the lugs and all of the hardware used on these drums, gorgeous stuff! I wish I had the jack to jump on those, it would really be nice. I have seen some orphans here in the states, but not like these. These are top shelf! The stuff I see here looks like stencils. Those look like they were meant to be a serious kit for pros.

And if I'd had the jack, that is prolly the ONLY MIJ kit I would have ever considered, and I would have been in on that one to win. I seriously think that is going to be a Museum kit, and it would have gone into my restoration area, the living room, to get a complete, loving resto. I really think I would have dropped everthing for that one. Gorgeous,Bowing just flat out the best looking MIJ I have ever seen. I know others will think I am off the freakin' path, but for that kit, I would have gone all in. It would have been a bloodbath. I really had the feeling it was headed for a grand, and I was right. I would have gone there, if I were in the financial position....

I hear ya and witness the passion. I believe there are more treasures to come. I have been seeing alot of good stuff coming up on the Japanese auctions this past 12 months. I will keep posting. I was in it up to about 400$- I know that `s not much but I am seriously looking for a mint Pearl Maple Fiberglass Giant Step Artist 78-80 something kit. I recently restored a 1980 Maple Fiberglass snare 6.5x14 and the sound is just in a word "me". It`s just the sound I want to be putting out there to an audience. If the snare`s are so amazing I am wanting to feel the whole thing.Clapping Happy2

Jonni-If you see a kit I post from a Japanese auction and it hits you hard like that then just PM me
