I saw the real VH kit at guitar center in 1998. It certainly looked like a vistalite set to me but it had a white rough coating on the interior that seemed like plaster of some kind. I don't remember it looking like a wood set at all but then again this was 13 years ago also. As far as I know the drums on that tour did not rise up or shoot flames out. I know Alex used to light his gong on fire but I think that was around the VH II timeframe. I actually thought I remember reading somewhere that he burned some of his hair off doing this and that is why he stopped. His hair got noticably shorter from VH II to WACF era!Cool Dude
I know his chrome single bass set from the 1991 tour used to go up on a riser that shot flames. I saw the back-up set of them on top of some slot machines in Vegas one time. I was told her had two identical sets and the one in Vegas was used over in Europe. I'm pretty sure Alex has a warehouse with all of the old stuff stored away in there. I would think that place has to be pretty full! He has had a lot of drums over the years. I will be interested to see what comes out for the next tour.
