Hiyall ....i'm new here too, and dont even know if I'm getting these messages on or not!!!!?!? I agree with the quote about the older instruments...thats all i got!!

Hello, to everyone...I'm posting for the first time as well.

I have enjoyed/played music most of my life, amateur Guitar Dude Man...had first drum set 1988 which was a used Ludwig...wish I still had it, very good shape. Bought a Tama Swingstar, beginner kit a few yrs ago, sold it fewyrs later, and just last month picked up a DW PDP Z-5, beginner shell pack...hardware and a few used Zildjian cymbals, and am currently making a space in my home office to set it up for the first time. It is sort of a sky blue sparkle wrap, chrome hardware. Bought a custom made cymbal stacker stand to save space.

I am excited about playing again...also just reconnected w. friend from HS days who has recently started drumming again after many yrs...fun chatting about drums...may be trying to fix up some old ones I find for resale...

Party --Glad this forum is here. THANKS to all who run/manage, post here...band3

Greetings!

I just joined this wonderful forum, and I too was looking for the introductions forum. Well, I guess i'll make my first post here. (get ready for a long one...)

I have been playing drums for about 4 years now, and in my second year of drumming I was introduced to vintage drums. I was looking to buy a full-size set of drums because I quikly outgrew my tiny child's drumset. So, I asked my father, a musician, what I should buy. He said that gretsch was the best in his book, but they where too expensive. He mentioned there where two or three sets of old ludwig drums at the school he went too (that I am currently enroled in also) and that they where most likely still there, gathering dust. So the internet research began, and I figured out that my favorite drummer at the time, (still VERY high on the list) Ringo Starr played Ludwig drums, and my father said he recalled the finish of two of the kits, and one was just like Ringo's. I got very exited, and more research followed. Eventuly we concluded that the finishes where Black Oyster Pearl, and Psycedelic Red.

School started, and we asked the principle and the music teacher about it. We ended up searching the school thouroughly, and found one ludwig 13'' Psycedelic red tom, a speedking pedal, and a set of 14'' Avedis Zildjian hi-hat cymbals. They gladly gave the equipment to me, all but the speedking pedal... Well, no Ringo kit, but it was still GREAT!

Now I am a vintage drum fanatic, proud owner of a gretsch kit, and I drum everyday in a basement crowded with vintage drums and cymbals. I also recently got that speedking. Excited

I hope you enjoyed my little story. See you around!

Thank you so much for the warm welcome!!!! I never asked to be cured, but that is the perfect cure for me! I certainly have a bad case of VDD, Thx for diagnosing me! LoLoLoLo

Hey everyone I'm thinking this is the intro forum so here goes. I'm Mike started playing drums at 12 that would be 1966. Best set I had was my Rogers but didn't know it then. I think there is a saying there some where. Only good thing is I kept my Dynasonic..yea. Playing Sonors 2007 force. But the best part of my kit besides the snare are my cymbals. 2002 15" hi hats, with a 2002 16" med. crash. As well I have a 20" Sound Creation Bright Ride and a Signature 18 crash and last but not least a 10" Zildjan splash. Lookng forward to talking with all of you...later mike.

New to forum, long time drummer/percussionist.

Ten-year hiatus from 1997 to 2007 caused by bicycling injury.

Slowly goetting back into it; for now I don't really have any group to play with so I just **** around at home. Occasionally sit in with a pickup group that plays klezmer and jazz standards (mostly at the ***ish rest home). Would like to play more if i can find time.

Currently working with a drum kit I cobbled together from parts (including 16" floor tom turned sideways and converted to tiny kick drum). Latest acquisition is a 1960 WFL/Ludwig marching snare in lovely shape. A real player, sounds great.

Biggest vintage quirk is practice pads. I don't know why but I am drawn to these things and am on the lookout for unusual ones.

Cheers --BH

Hi All,

Since the Pearl Forum is flagged as an attack page I signed up here to get my drum and cymbal talk fix.
