There's plenty of valuable historical information shown here, but you wouldn't be able to read it unless I gave you the magnified version. I'm not sure that this web-site could accommodate it. But from the enlarged and readable version I can tell you that the info it contains is great stuff.

My vintage A's sound better than those K's with the holes.

Ever since I saw/heard that Mel Lewis 20' A that had the notches taken

out, I've felt a lot better about my lowly 50's A's... I'd still like a nice old

vintage K thought, heh.

I like both.

The holes in Art's cymbal are there for the sake of the rivets, not including the outer holes, which appear to be smaller (still for rivets?)

In the origional post, the holes seem to be there to dry out the cymbal.

My two cents...I would protect an historic cymbal that came into my possession and not mess with it. If it was a new cymbal (now or back in the day) and I thought rivets or even "venting" would help it toward what I felt was a better sound to my ear, I would have no problem doing either.
