Before the seamless Champion and Phonics, that was a D421. SONOR didn`t make any student drums without a bead in the teardrop era.

From OddBall

SONOR stopped using the two hole hoop before they made that throw. It was on the budget 70`s line.

Thanks Oddball...

This drum has a bead and I bought it this way back in '71. I don't know what that makes it but thought I remember being told it was a student model.

Early 71 SONOR had budget lines, that teardrop D-421 snare shell and lugs were plenty available to add to the budget orders. When that 421 grew up, in became the 454 Champions and Phonic snares.

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

Forgive my eyes but, I don`t see a center bead on that snare.

You're right. I meant it is not seamless.

My early '90s 3000s in Scandanavian Birch. Not pictured is the 8", but I have it, too. Not exactly vintage, I know, but I sure love 'em! But, hey, at least the Luddy snare in the pic is a '63....

Scored a set of Swingers today. OK sound for such an inexpensive kit. Complete with hardware, key, snare drum and Avanti cymbals. Told they are about 1971, some ink stamps inside several are “208”. Any input?

Drum Kits
1965 Ludwig Clubdate Oyster Blue
1966 Ludwig Clubdate Oyster Black
1969 Ludwig BB Blue Oyster Keystone Clubdate
1971 Ludwig BB Black Oyster
