Rogers Drums Score

Loading...

Well, it happened to me today. Went to the local Goodwill on the off chance they might have a classic snare or something. I find a rolling cart with a Ludwig snare in it. The sticker on the snare said $149.99. “Way too much” I say to myself. But then I realize that $149.99 was the price for everything in the cart! Rogers bread & Butter drums from the late 50’s or early 60’s. Most of the lugs have a crack or full-on break, but still! I also spot a few old school Zildjian’s in the cart. SOLD! When I start loading the stuff into my truck, I found that there was an additional compartment in the trap case (oh didn’t I tell you? Cases too, although

in pretty rough shape). More cymbals! All Zildjian: 22”ping ride, 18” crash, 17” sizzle, 13” high hats, 14” crash, then two small cymbals with cracks. Also, a 16” and 18” China (no name). Plenty of crummy hardware. The tom mount has been changed to pdp.

Drums all have the Holiday (Cleveland) sticker inside, with serial numbers in the 109xx range.

Looks like I’ll be in the market for some functional bread & butter lugs soon.

Moral of the story: Support your local Goodwill Store!!!

Now that's a haul!. Does the Ludwig snare have the black/white badge on it or a large Keystone Chicago badge? Would love to see more pics of the cymbals too. Love the Rogers badges! Well done.

The Ludwig snare is a Chicago keystone, s/n 3111720 with a Ludaloy sticker inside.

Here are the cymbals on my Ludwig set (ignore the modern K splash on the left)

Dreams do come true

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

The drums have been rewrapped with a heavy-duty black wrap. I used a heat gun (Wagner Furno 300 - lots of good reviews and only $23 at Home Depot) to peel it off and found that the drum had been signed by the maker. How cool is that?
