Bing Bang is selling new beavertail lugs
Not cheap,but still...
So BingBang says items can be preordered. Does this mean that they make them only upon special order?

Should be shipping within the next couple of weeks.
I see Sweetwater is doing the same.
I'm probably going to order a Dyna Sonic carriage for $59 bucks and complete a snare I picked up a few months ago.
Does anyone know what the bearing edges should be on a 1958 Rogers tom? These have been hand-cut to a knife edge, with sharp angles from both the inside and the outside of the drum.
Perfect! Beautiful drum. Thank you very much, John.
The drums have already been altered--not ruined. Therefore, you should have no hang ups about re-wrapping the drums and replacing broken parts with replacement parts. In my opinion, that PDP tom mount should be replaced with Swivomatic parts on the bass drum and mounted tom. If they were my drums, I'd be very tempted to replace the lugs with used beavertail lugs. Good luck with your great project. What wrap are you thinking about?
I removed the wrap on the 12” because I knew it was not original (I could see where the original Swivomatic holes were covered by the wrap) and wanted to see what was underneath. The heads seemed to fit very tightly around the circumference, so I thought that perhaps the original wrap was underneath. Nope. The wrap really isn’t in bad shape on the other drums, so I may just hit them with the Novus series of polish. Also, black pearl was a color offering in the 1957 and 1960 catalog, so I am assuming it was offered in 1958. Plus, since the 12” had the mini lugs, and only 5 remain, I figured that it was a good drum for guinea pig processes (wrap removal, bearing edge re-do).
Because the “new” bearing edges have two 45-degree angles, by the time I sand them down to bring them back to original, the height of each drum will be 1/2” shorter.
I would like to bring back the swivomatic, but if I don’t rewrap the bass drum, I’ll be left with a large, gaping maw top dead center.
My understanding is that the bearing edges were nearly flat in that era. You could contact Jollity Drum Farm for accurate information and a possible photo or two. Also, by cruising his webpage, you will probably see some examples of those edges. Keep in mind that is the tail end of the calf head era, and so the edges were done in respect of that fact. If you are going to play these drums, you may find you are better off with Rogers edge from late '63 onward. I'm not sure if that is two 45 cuts or one 45 and one 30. Someone here will know.
Dan, by "nearly flat," do you mean rounded over like Ludwigs?
These were my project a few years ago and have since been completed. All Jasper shells. Bass is a 59ish pirate badge. Toms in the 60-61 range. VERY flat bearing edges for calf heads back then. You can see the edge on the bass. Can snap a few more pics if you need. This was the photo in the ad before I bought them I saved. They now have Remo Ambassadors top and bottom. fit fine and sound great as is. No edge mods done.
