"an old boy trying to reunite with his first drum kit from 1967"

Loading...

Hi Everyone,

I want to thank member Richm for the lead on the Coronet drum kit, unfortunately the kit was already sold when I called, and I have been trying to find the person who bought them to see if they would sell them on to me, but the seller said she has deleted the mail correspondence, so my hunt continues. If anyone has any other sites they could recommend I would truly be grateful. How about I offer a $50 finders fee to anyone who can help me successfully find the kit, (I apologize in advance if this is not appropriate for this site and if so I will remove this post )

once again, thank you for the replies and I hope someone is able to help me.

kind regards,

Vic

ps this is a great forum!

Hello all,

" Can anyone help an old boy trying to re-unite with his first drum kit"

I am looking for a mid 1960s Coronet drum kit (bass, snare and tom, with cymbal mounted on the bass drum) finished in white marine - has anyone come across one of these? or in possession of one? or know where I can find one? I would be most grateful.

See picture attached,

regards,

Vic

thank you really appreciate it.

silly question but judging from my picture is the drum kit Coronet? I said it's a silly question but it's been a long time and I can't really remember, but I do know it started with C - I have been on all kinds of sites it does look like old slinglerland but I know it wasn't that.

thanks again

Vic,

Welcome to the forum. There are many members here who specialized in the numerous Japanese kits of the 60's and 70's. They may have some leads for you. I think you're remembering correctly that you had a "Coronet" set, as the tom badge in your pic appears to be an unside-down Coronet badge...

Such a cute pic. Hell if I had one I'd give it to you for nothing.

Check ebay as well as google somethign like "coronet" and "drum" and "craigslist".

You can search this forum as well for previous threads discussing Coronets.

I'll be on the lookout too. Good luck.

another one, definitely pearl white but you'll have to pay to ship it from Canada $150. http://woodstock.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-sell-musical-instruments-drums-percussion-Coronet-drums-for-sale-W0QQAdIdZ515255496

I hear ya sir.

Those first kits we had are special.

I would like to find mine again too.

Mine was a "Crest" in red pearl.

Club Date style like your "Coronet".

That kit in Canada looks just yours from what I can see in the pic.

6 lug Club Date style Bass Drum.

Only $150. Sounds good.

Shipping would be the only concern.

Great pic of your Coronet Kit.

Is that you on your birthday at 8 years old?

Were the drums a Birthday present?

If so,........What a great present.

Thanks Mom and Dad.

Good luck with your quest.

my story which is in the past of my initial joining i actually found my kit as it was in storage from some old jazz drummer who bought it from me ,it still had the original skins he must of died and when the checks stop coming in they went up for sale, i paid premium but what a end for my hunt i now feel sad for us old geezers who end up in nursing home our life in storage no one left to pass it on too its sad i sold it in 69 for 325

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
