I'll take a picture of my setup tomorrow to show how I mount the tom without removing the hex/ball system.

I'm assuming this is what I'd need to put on the tom?

Alright here's an update....
Have decided to go with a Green Sparkle wrap on these guys. The tom mounting system is a bit crazy as someone decided to replace it with a pearl setup without re drilling new holes, and tom is missing the hex ball.
SO...I'm going to have the bass drum wrapped so the holes are covered, and leave the tom mount on the tom. This way...if I come across a tom mount for the kit at a later date all I have to do is have to do is re-drill the holes through the wrap. Its not OEM but I love the look of a virgin bass drum and the tom on a snare stand.
We're going to touch up the bearing edges to so that these guys sounds fresh out of the gretsch factory. Hoops are going to be given the green inlay, and have their outside edge stained black.
I will post pics when this is all complete!
Hey does anyone know where I can find rubber feet for the floor tom legs? i've found some on ebay, but the only ones i can find seem to just fit bass drum spurs.
Musiciansfriend.com or drumfactorydirect.com get the Gibraltar floating feet.

Does anyone know if the gretsch Hexball mount is compatible with the yamaha YESS system? Both seem to have similar shaped rods....I found a the original tom mount system I need on ebay, but in the end its going to cost me like 150 bucks for a system which is probably going to be frustrating compared to today's setups.
I have one of the mounts with the ball...also,1mount without....
The Gibraltar Floating Floor Tom Feet work great (as well as the much more pricey FLEXTIPS™ from Gauger Percussion). If you're looking for the type of rubber tips that originally came from the factory, check with Jim Petty at www.jp2creations.com.
If those were mine, I would take the mounts off the bass and Tom, fill the holes, either refinish them or put a beautiful wrap on them. Mount the tom on a snare stand or put a rims on it and fly it off a cymbal stand. A nice solid looking set. The expense and trouble of getting the mount and parts together ? If your not happy with that set up you can always do the mount thing later. I like the virgin kick drum idea too. Green Sparkle will look nice. I like the Tangerine sparkle too. That set will look great !
All done guys! Check em out!
