From stedi

I’m with John and a couple of others,...Leave them like they are or bring them down to the bare wood, stain and lacquer them.I did my first restoration on a wooden kit earlier this year and with the little experience I have on woodworking, the result was fine.http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=42506&highlight=camco

Hey, Stedi! I just got around to checking out the photos of your Camco restoration. You did a phenomenal job for someone with limited wood-working experience. Amazing!

Ok I must be completely drunk or dense....

But how do you get this tom mount system to lock without having the memory lock on there? You can put the pipe into the tom, but there's nothing to actually tighten it or lock it. There is a lug on the tom's mount that looks like it might tighten it...but it doesn't.

Its a double tom mount of some variety...I've seen the same setup in cataologues so it appears to be gretsch. However, It doesn't even line up with the original two holes made in the bass drum, only one tom can mount.

And furthermore, i have no idea how to tighten this mount when the tom is attached. Any ideas?

How big of a challenge would it be two convert this into a rail mount system or a double tom mount system that made sense?

That mount on the tom is supposed to have a plastic ball and a hexagonal hole for a hex-rod,not a 7/8 pipe-totally different item! Take it off and adapt a Pearl isolation mount. End of story...

The good news is, the tom mount on the tom is original. The bad news is, the pearl arm is not designed to work with that mount. As mentioned it uses a hex rod. I doubt that double mount on the bass is gretsch. It looks like pearl different hole spacing. It would have had one of these

You could buy the original gretsch bass drum mount and re install it leaving only 4 small holes that could be filled much easier than a large down tube hole. Then any 1" single arm mount could be used with a suspension system on the tom like rims, opti mount etc.

My guess is the holes in the drum will already fit that because as you can see in the pictures, the current mount only fits over one hole...

Question two. Where can I find the old hex mount system? Also...it looks like someone ripped the ball out of the tom mount....
