Yep^^^ Blemishes are the human touch. Nothing in life is ever perfect. It's kind of a joke at our house. Almost everything we buy has a small scratch or dent we don't see at first. Fits us perfectly.
Mahogany veneer job
Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.
Jeff, you may not be perfect but you do a fantastic job. You work can stand up against any there is. You do a great job and can be very proud of yourself!
Thank you so much! And yes I am very proud of what I do and most of the time I never have an issues. But last fall I met misses perfect, she looks things over with a microscope, a real B. But she lives here and we can take care of the little petty issues in person face to face. The reason I am considering not doing any more online business per se is because there is no face to face business and if I did get a picky customer it would not be good, too hard to resolve it. Besides, I did mess up a job for a member here and he had to sell his drums. He was real cool about it, I asked several times if there was anything I could do but he did not seem to concerned. I was lucky that time. I'm just not a fan of doing business over the computer, its too hard to pick colors for one thing and it sucks doing all the packing and shipping. This particular project was a trade for drum parts and was worth it to me, no money changed hands.
Thank you!

I think, long as your up front about it, which you are, any member here would be more than happy to have you veneer some shells for them. I know I'd rather have you do it than do it myself! :)

Dear Mr. Cabinets Burger Kin, The ultra-perfectionist...therein lies the tale. It has been MY personal experience, just MINE...that ultra perfectionist people are inversely proportional to their ability to actually PLAY said instrument.ESPECIALLY guitar collectors...And this in no way should reflect on others' experiences. I am SO inspired to play a hand built or personally customized instrument. It takes it out of the hands of the nillwads @ GC and into the musicians...
Well Tom. your gonna be playing an almost perfect customized instrument real soon! Im glad you are inspired by the customization of these drums, make me feel real good!
Thank you!

Jeff - 'Perfection' is something we all strive for, but rarely attain. That's why it's such a big deal when something does come out perfect, the stars have to align! Your work is always as close to perfect as you can make it. It was good enough for me and for the majority of the people you've done work for. That's really saying something! It's like a major league ball player batting .750! You're a good craftsman and that's all that counts. I always enjoy these threads.

Thank you John! That mahogany looks great, I took one of the shells to my drum lesson tonight and the guys at the music store were pretty impressed. I am doing a Gretsch tom for my instructor in trade for drum lessons. I wanted him to see the finish so he could get excited. I took the 16" shell and it is real close to perfect. That cinnamon stain is really pretty and the interiors with that oak veneer look great too. Cant wait to see this kit back in action, hope the owner shares some pics when its done.
Thank you!

Jeff - What is the owner doing with the BD hoops? Did you make mahogany strips for the hoop inlay? I left the hoops natural on the kit you veneered for me. It looks great with the natural maple hoops against the dark mahogany.
