Mahogany veneer job

Loading...

Got this box of shells from one of my buddies here from VDF yesterday, I will let him identify himself if he chooses so. Were going to wrap these in mahogany veneer and use a cinnamon stain/semi gloss lacquer. They will look just like the ones I did for John (Purdie Shuffle) a year or two ago, well except Johns had a gloss finish.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Gary, it was a trade for some parts.

Here's a shot of the kit that Jeff veneered for me:

It is now, 4-ply mahogany and it is one of the best sounding kits I own. 50's 3-ply mahogany WFL shells were used. Can't wait to see how this one comes out.

Too many great drums to list here!

Mitch, I wasn't going to go nuts with the thread like I usually do. I mainly just want to show the owner whats going on. So I will post a few more pics along the way but you guys have seen this before.

John, thanks for posting the pic of your drums. And thanks again for having me do them. I still have that WFL shell you gave me for adding in your snare. I'm thinking I want to put it back together like it was originally.

Dont know if I will get to the veneer work this weekend or not but when I get them wrapped I will post some pics.

Thank you!

Well this is a very interesting thread, as far as interesting threads go. Not that I find it any MORE interesting than other interesting treads about someone's shells getting veneered with mahogany. I mean, they could be ANYONES shells. Pretty much anyones...Burger Kin
