Unfortunately, while all of the parts of the set may be worth that when combined, it is almost impossible to find a buyer for a complete vintage package. This is why complete vintage packages that sell for no reserve are always such a great deal...they never get bid up to their potential, and you often times cut a huge chunk off the price of the drums by selling off what you don't need. Please don't get me wrong, I'm in the vintage drum business, and by all means I hope you get $5+ for everything! I just think you should consider how important it is to you that everything stays together. If that's the priority, then be willing to take a major hit. If you can live with parting out the cymbals, stands, cases, etc, you most likely make a lot more more $$. Just my :2Cents:.
Ludwigs 1969-70 4500$$ Or Best Offer
You're probably right, Bill. $5K is a lot to expect, but he is also entertaining offers, too. I'm thinking that he probably got the drums for some crazy kind of steal and now wants to try and maximize the gain, but will get a better idea of what someone is willing to pay via the "or best offer" route. If someone out there falls in love with this kit and has been looking for a Ludwig Legacy shell pack, might just reconsider what they spend their $5K on and consider this deal, instead.
There are still some people looking for complete packages. I am, in fact one of those types! I would kill to have a package like this. This is what I dream about finding as a collector of vintage Ludwig drum sets. Unfortunately, I won't be buying any more drums for QUITE some time -unless they fall from the sky. In fact, I may be in the process of getting rid of some stuff in the next few weeks and/or months. But, IF I could buy a new set, I would put forth a serious offer for this package. I am just floored by this collection!

Starting To Get Some Decent Offers Were Warming Up!!!!!
Yeah, you've got a couple different forums talking about your kit now. You just may find someone that is looking for a complete kit. BTW, that is a very nice kit! That silver sparkle has ginger-aled so evenly, it's beautiful. Good luck.

Thanks for the input what a kick ass hobby!!!
3500 or best offer how does this sound. The temptation to just keep them is getting bigger I might start a new auction tonight!!!! start it around 2750 and see what happens.
Now that the vintage drum market has tanked along with the economy, I seriously doubt you'll get any where near what you are asking. $1500 tops IMO. Sorry to be the bearer of the news, but $4500? You're dreaming on that one no matter how mint the kit is or how matched it is, or what famous person has been claimed to have owned it (or not).........just not gonna happen the way the economy is now. The vintage drum market is starting to get away from the collectors and back to the players....the way it should be IMO. Drums were made for playing to make music, not to sit on a shelf and collect dust by looking at them, no matter how rare they are.
Knock On Wood So Far I Have Done Pretty Good. Stay Cool And Lol
And the price just keeps going down.....now we're at my HIGH end guess of around $2500 on the bay. Hurting LOL! no offense meant. Hey, the stock market has lost half its value as well!
If nothing else it makes for great entertainment huh??? I am at my bottom line there will be no stock market crash here if you know what I mean it's simply not worth selling for less than 2500. the old saying goes you can always lower the price but it is difficult to raise it. I figure a couple of more days and the wife will just let me keep it. and in ten years it will be at its 50 yr anniversary maybe the economy will be better It truly is a buyer's market so the search goes on hey did you see how much that superphonic is up to 1967 600$ plus so far.
