Hey all, new to the forum (as a registered user) but I have been coming to get some answers from you guys over the past few years.
Apologies if any of the things I'll ask have already been asked before.
I should say that although I have been drumming for 20 years, and been doing a lot of woodworking over the past 5 years, this would be my first go at trying to restore a shell.
I picked up a 61-63 Ludwig Pioneer yesterday knowing that it had suffered some bad water damage over the years.
The shell itself had some mold on the inside, and most of the metal was pretty rusty.
I managed to get the 2 point throw off and butt plate off with a lot of patience and some (actually a fair amount of) lubricant.
BUT, the washers are still "glued" to the shell because of the rust. Any recommendation, tips, advises?
I haven't tried taking off any of the lugs but I'm assuming I will face a similar situation.
