First of all, hello! This is my first post.
I was at a friends house this weekend an noticed a dilapidated set under a pile of crap in his garage.
When I inquired about them he told me:
"A friend found them on the curb in downtown St. Louis about a year ago, Im not going to do anything with them, you want them?" Eye Ball
Of course I said yes, figuring I could beat on em and use them as a spare set.
Got home added them to my existing (yet borrowed) kit and played them.
Then went to bed,
Next day, got up and played some more, noticed they smelled a bit "ripe". Ran the serial numbers on the off the old keystone Ludwig tags and whats this..they're 42 years old! Cool1
The floor tom ended up being a later olive/blue tag model. But its still solid!
I spent the next 6 hours disassembling and cleaning them up. They are gorgeous!
Im getting new heads for them today and am adding as many vintage silver sparkle drums as I can find.
Now the pics:
Before, dirty, nasty, smelly
