Well... if you get cash in hand before you ship how can it be a scam.

I'm with you though... the whole idea makes me nervous to but I don't really know why.

Most scammers do not actually put any real item info in the email. They usually want you to accept overpayment and send balance elsewhere.

Shipping to some parts of Europe can be an issue. Check online and see if Poland has any issues like Italy seems to have. Tell him you will accept payment for International Money Order, or direct bank transfer, but hold shipment for 4 weeks to make sure the payment does not bounce back. That usually takes care of any scammers I have had contact from. They don't reply after that notice.

I'm just curious what problems Italy has...I shipped a Dynasonic there and had no issues whatsoever.

BBK. I'm glad it worked out for you I've never had nothing but problem's selling to Italy and Spain, I avoid both countries. the customs people are a rip off, and their customs laws, No thanks.

I say trust your instincts on this one Gary. If it sounds like a scam, smells like a scam, reads like a scam, it probably is. I would only do the deal if it was guaranteed funds, like paypal can be. Even international money orders and wire transfers can be fake. Sounds a bit risky to me. Just makes you wonder....they don't have cymbals this guy wants over in Europe already? Gary, ebay will only give seller,buyer protection when shipped to a confirmed address of the buyer, the agent would have to buy the cymbal from you and then ship it to this guy in Italy, there are a ton of companies on ebay that do this type of thing. I've sold to them many many times with No problems.

yep...scam.the 3rd email sinched it.i'm surprised his email read in english.most of the time they don't type properly.

he'll probibly send a western union m.o. which is not cashable in the u.s.a. (more on that below) when you try to cash it you can't.so that person gets the cash,and the item (if they even care about the item) or have his "shipping company" pick it up,etc...in my life,i never heard of or delt with someone who has a shipping company just to buy stuff.

as for western union,this is a bit strange but its their policy now.i had 2buyers who's in the u.s.a. that sent a w.u.m.o. for payment .alright,i don't usually tak'em but it should be like a regular money order...garenteed funds,right...

i went to a w.u. location (not my bank) and tried to cash it and they said i could not cash it because it was not bought from that location.i also didn't have the original reciept which they said they needed.a m.o. from one location can't be cashed at another location-only the location it was bought from.

so i said,"why would i buy a money order just to cash it?" they didn't have a good answer,but its obviously because all the scammers who use w.u. to rip off people.by the way,one buyer was only 1/2 away.

so i don't take w.u. m.o.'s anymore,only postal m.o.'s. has anyone else had problems cashing a w.u.m.o.?

Here's one for ya.....Not a scam but frustrating to say the least:

I contacted a well known drum builder in the USA to buy some parts. We agreed on a payment in the form of a Bank Draft in US funds.

I went to my bank and bought a Bank Draft.....in US Funds....paid for it in US Funds. My band assured me it was cashable at ANY bank in the USA or Canada - they are as good as cash - even better than Travelers’ Cheques I've been told.

A few weeks go by and I get the Bank Draft back with a note from the drum builder stating his bank would not honour it because it did not have my ACCOUNT # on it (there was a space on the bank draft to write an accnt. # if you had one). There was a circle drawn around the account area on the draft - he said his bank did that and said I had to put my bank account # there before they could cash it. The bank was treating like a personal cheque! Freakin rediculous and frustrating because I live in Canada and this USA builder lives in California. I was completely puzzled and took it to my bank. They were equally puzzled because the "account #" location on the bank draft was only there for convenience if I wanted to reference it. For instance if I had an account at that drum builder's company and wanted to write something there to give the builder a heads-up regarding my order. It had nothing to do with my personal bank account. The bank.....a very large bank in Canada....said that was the very first time they've ever heard of such a thing. The draft was as good as cash and should have easily been cashed.

Also, I had a little bit of a problem cashing it because it was made out the drum company (not to me).

I sent the drum builder a long email (like this one) but I did not get a response and I have yet to buy the parts I need. I won't mention the name of the builder here but if anyone is interested you can PM me and I'll let you know.
