And BTW excellent job on that Trixon head. Did you make the hoop for it also?

I have someone that makes the hoops for me. I will be making these a regular stock item.

Thank you all for the compliments, I am glad that there are people who are finding what I am doing interesting enough to keep checking back.

Here's another one for you to check out. This is going to be the comapnion snare drum to the spike bass drum. This one started out as a 50's era Radio King floor tom shell. Hoping to have it done before I leave for Nashville on Thursday morning so watch for more updates comming very soon.

In the world of rope tension drummer 16" & 17" snares are standard sizes.

I got some more done on the drums, here is a few more photos updates.

It took a while but I got the flames leafed with silver just like on the bass drum.

An hour or so carefully removing the blue tape and the flames are done.

I also got the hoops for the top and bottom done.

Tomorrow I will be putting a few more coates of eurothane on the drum, making ears and cutting a snare bed.

Do you use a template for the flames or is that all free hand?

Okay, one more update before Nashville. I still have to get the snare strainer and gut attached and paint the head but other than that the sppike snare is done.

First here are some pictures of the ears for the sppike snare and the green bass drum I have been working on.

Starting picture for the green bass ears.
