And to think, this started as a nice thread about a great drumming icon of the late 1960's......now its all this, all done to spite the majority of the forum because that one doing the spite has, 1) no clue about real music, and 2) just wants to pi$$ off the majority of the forum for his own whimsy. DOH

I only see one guy getting pi$$ed off. But you know the old saying. I would rather be pi$$ed off than pi$$ed on!!! Kiss

I will. I against any drugs being illegal. If I have enough money to sit around in a room and do heroin all day who the heck do you think you are saying i can't? Another addendum, back in the early 70's when I was telling everybody why the 50's Gretsch drums and the K's made in Istanbul were great nobody cared. And nowadays, all the stuff I really care about like homemade varnish, Neal Adams' growing earth, light affecting the pitch sweet spot, frequencies above 100KHz affecting our psyche, wooden horns... nobody cares much about it except as mostly comedy relief. It feels exactly like telling people about RB's and old K's in 1972. People are very interested however, in specific plastic wraps on 1970's made-in-Japan drums. Deep.

In the first place, I happen to agree with you on this point. Too much Government telling people they have to be good slaves, when the tax collections alone wouild put a sizable dent in our Governments voracious appetite for the money I earn so that it can be returned to the Corporate pigs that put the Masters in a position of power over us in the first place.

As for the stab at my affinity for MIJ, that was uncalled for. I happen to love all vintage drums, I cannot afford anything other than MIJ at this point in the economy, therefore I collect and love them as though they were any other collectible drums. One day, they are going to become out of the reach of even the casual observer because of those wraps, so given that scenario, what is wrong with my affinity for the misgiven instruments of the past? And RBs are far out of my wallets reach. So that means more Ludwig, Gretsch, Rogers and Slingerland for you to buy, and one less buyer putting upward pressure on the price. I don't make disparaging remarks about anyone elses penchant for their own particular brand loyalty, and I would appreciate the same respect. I am very helpful to anyone that asks and would like to see some kindness in return.

"I enjoy restoring 60s Japanese "stencil" drums...I can actually afford them..."I rescue the worst of the old valueless drums for disadvantaged Children and gladly accept donations of parts, pieces and orphans, No cockroaches, please...

I'm sorry if I offended you, that was not my intention.

There's 6.5 billion people on this planet, and you are bound to come across people who feel differently than you do. What I said are my opinions, and we all have different opinions.

What I try to do (so I don't go nuts) is look at it like one person's opinion on food. If someone says they hate something I like to eat I sure don't look at it as a lack of respect, they just don't like it. That's all.

I think MIJ drums are a joke, always did, it shouldn't bother you because I'm just 1 in 6.5 billion. I don't like tomatoes either 'cause they taste terrible. All just opinion and if it bothers you, maybe look at why you'd even care what I think. Caring what I think enough to be offended is a little out there. Just wear your own style with pride. And if that's MIJ drums - great!

I am not miffed Pi$$ed off or otherwise lol i took a stab at his age simply because of his lack of knowing who Ginger baker was... my point was and still is music made in the 60's early 70's was and still is the best rock and roll, blues based music we have ever had and the crop of musicians was off the charts.

Guitar players Duane Allman,Jimi hendrix,Ritchie Blackmore, andy Powell,Eric Clapton, etc etc have no counterparts in today's manufactured music, made with a click in a studio unlike records made in the 60's today's players take month to make a freaking CD... are there a few good players out there today? of course but they are NOT writing the material equivalent of those guys and Gals from yesteryear's...

Those guys used to play solo's for 5 to 10 min's todays guys ,lol you are lucky to get 4 bars.. no imagination music if in a flat period it will have future stars but they are not here yet if they are please inform me so i can listen to them..
