but the difference is they have the technology,
In the first place, the modern digital stage was invented and perfected by ONE touring band. Grateful Dead. So without this technology, modern music could not possibly exist. Begfore you even think about conrtradicting this FACT, research it. I was there during the development, from the early 80s to the end of the line. I have mede made no mention of The Beatles....They are the true pioneers of an era. The Dead, on the other hand, were pioneers in the realm no other band could possibly understand or fathom. Do you have any idea what the Digital stage does for poor accoustics in a venue like The Ford Center in OKC? It is possibly the WORST venue in the US. Bands avoid it like the plague, the accoustics are horrendous, with the exception of bands that use the digital stage.
It has technology built into that no other concert performance stage can rival. Do you have any idea what that technology is? I watched it transform from a huge "Wall of Sound" to the ultra-modern, low mass, amazingly accurate sound system of today. Any of your modern rockers have anything to do with that? No. Many of them, as a matter of fact, shun the use of it, claiming it's not worth the effort to learn how to perform in it's abundant technological advances. This system actually adjusts itself to the venue, taking much of the guess work out of tuning the venue to the band.
As for LP, and most modern rock bands of the radio, they are simply uninspiring to listen to. Name one song they have that is really something that appeals to more than just your generation, on a wholesale basis.
My young friend from the nieghborhood is 15 can't even tell me who they are, let alone what they play, and he is a drummer, and and plays many styles of rock, new and classic. We have all offered our opinions, you chose to view those as bashing. Well, The Beatles are and old, silly sounding band, hoiwever when we were kids, we enhanced our mind and listened to something you can't possibly understand. The reason you can't understand is because of digitization of music that we, the old pharts, invented for you. Digital music is different, it sounds different than analog music.
For the record, in years past, LP was not a friend of parents because they were very vocal in the frontlines of legalization of marijuana...I will not take a stance on that, but to say they are packaged as a sterilized band for the kiddies is not quite accurate...I can tell you this as I was in Atlanta in the early days of LP and they were nothing more than just another CD sales event, using the platform to gain instant recognition and notariety.
I am saying that, in my opinion they are nothing more than another "Formula 3:26" band that will fade into obscurity in the very near future, along with many thousands of others, both innovative and otherwise....
Recently a member posted a video of a band from the Netherlands, I believe, that is fresh, sounds like rock, not some wanna be all things to all people, and they likely will be lost in the shuffle because they DON"T sound like crap packaged up with slick marketing that force feeds the masses some line about how music is "eveolving". Don't eveolve my music into something that it was not meant to be. Rock should sound like rock and rap should...well, IMO, be banned from all public awareness.
So, this is MY opinion.
Look back in history. Pink Floyd. Need I say more?
