Yard Sale Slingerland kit!

Loading...

Any info would be good. What I do know is that it is from 1965. The bass drum had a date stamped in there of May 65'. Is this color pink Oyster pearl? I'm working on cleaning it up and polishing the chrome by following the directions on this site. One thing I was wondering is was this a custom order because it's a five piece? most images I have seen are 4 piece kits.

It came with a bass drum pedal a hi-hat stand (incomplete) a couple of cymbal stands and a snare stand and 3 cymbals. All original as far as I can tell. I purchased it from a Yard sale last weekend.

Nice find! Looks like oyster pink pearl to me. Is that an 18" kick?

Hi,

That is a really nice kit! It's called a "Modern Combo" and was designed so that the three toms fit inside each other for ease of transport. It was not the top of the range line because of the single heads, but still very desirable, I would say, in that finish and condition.

Maybe you could put up a picture in the gallery of the full set up?

Thats the kind of information i'm looking for. Thanks DJAM. I never considered that all the drums would fit inside each other for shipping. Cool.

What you have is one of the rarest Slingerland finishes!

The nested drums however are not really wanted by collectors.

So you have a rare finish with not-so liked toms.

The bass drum is another story.

There is a ton of Slingeland history. Look at the top of the web site, all of the links are up there. All of the answers, photos and dating history are all available in the links.

Not that I want to sell them but what would be an average value for something like this? I think i'm going to keep them. I'm a guitarist but play drums a little. I have a small home studio and use a v-drum kit and superior drummer for recording. I'll probably finish fixing these up and mic them up. Should be fun.

Yeah man, that is probably the coolest finish ever, imo. I would guess no less than 1200.00 for that kit but we have to know, how much did you give???

It ranks in the top 10 of most expensive things i've ever bought at a yard sale. A whopping $5 for everything. LOL

5 bucks? If you paid five dollars for that kit, it is a fugazi.....

If you want to triple up on your money, I will provide shipping details. Tell you what, I will send a twenty, keep the change.

By the way, I am currently selling some beach front property on the island I own in the Carribean and this week only, I am offering free rides on my private jet. Finally, anybody that wants to go to my Castle in Scotland, let me know. I got Sir Sean Connery over there and I am going to be playing a freakin solo with Sting singing............

have a wonderful evening
