slingerland radio king snare

If you do decide to wrap it and want to go with a white marine pearl, I suggest drummaker.com.They have a killer wrap called aged white diamond which is yellowed a bit to match the vintage RK's and is also the same chunk pattern as the RK's from the 40's. I think this would work well with your aged hardware.

yea i want to take him up on the offer and it looks like i might need to, but i really wanted to learn this stuff. i will post some pics of what i have done so far, i fixed the sepperation on the rim part of the drum but this looks pretty difficult.

i dont know if goes all the way through. i posted pictures of the front and back of holes. i can feel a lump on the inside of the drum where the strainer gate has been tightend and strained the wood and created a lump on the inside and a impression on the outside. its almost the same were the muffler was, but not as extreme.

the other cracks on the inside of the drum are long and kind of pealing they dont look deep and i cant see them on the outside, but what do i know i am just staring out on this stuff.

if you have ideas i am open, i would like to learn and do it myself but if there is anything i can do i would like to do it, if it helps i can take more pics.

The last pic is the one that has me concerned! send gonedrumming a PM find out where both of you are in texas, you may be neighbors, I met a forum member on here who lived 2 miles from my house! see if he thinks he can repair it, or show you how to repair it!

This is a difficult job, to say the least. As far as actually "repairing" the crushed wood is really not feasible. The cracks inside may be repairable by injecting glues into the and between the plies and clamoing it. BTW, he lives in the MetroPlex.

Seems to me that I have heard that impressions like the ones created by the strainer can be fixed by moistening the affected area with a small amount of water.

Needless to say it's jacked. I think Larry is going to send it this way, I will have to sit and stare at it a while to formulate a plan. I'm already thinking of some kind of jig in a steam box so I can apply some focused pressure from the inside of the shell.
