Are any of these things valuable?

Loading...

I have several old drum items that may be valuable, and I would like some feedback to see if I should pursue selling any of them. Most of this stuff I have had in my possession for over 45 years, but some of it is a lot older than that. Here’s a list of what I think are the most valuable items:

(1) An old bass drum pedal which has a patent pending date on it of 5/25/09. It has the original felt beater and a cymbal striker and is in excellent shape and working condition. I just read that this pedal was the first product of the Ludwig company.

(2) Two brass plated Leedy external spurs – the kind that attach to the wood hoop and the spur is also the bolt that screws the clamp to the hoop.

(3) Two brass plated metal brushes still very clean and in working condition.

(4) A Leedy Full Dress model bass drum and snare drum. These drums are black lacquer with gold and red sparkle diamond inlays. All the hardware is solid brass or brass plated. The 6x14 snare drum is a Broadway Parallel model with individually adjustable snare wires. It has solid brass rims and is in great condition. The 28” bass drum has a painting of a man and woman standing in the moonlight.

(5) A six piece vintage Rogers drum set from the early 60’s – two bass drums (20” & 22”), two side toms (12” & 13”), a 16” floor tom, and a wood shell Dynasonic snare drum. The drums are natural wood – no wrap – and all are in excellent condition.

(6) A four piece vintage Ajax Nu-Sound Staccato drum set in Burgundy Ripple with the “A” lugs, they are from the early 60’s – a 20” bass drum, a 12” side tom, a 14 x14 floor tom, and a 5x14 snare drum. They all have die cast rims and are in very good shape.

I appreciate anyone taking the time to give me some idea of the value of these items. I’m 75 and self employed, and I’m hoping that some of this might augment my Social Security .

Thanks

Don you have a website with details and pricing...

http://www.donthorpe.com/vintage-drums/for-sale.htm

....why don't you just put an ad in the for sale area of this site? You already know that your items are worth something, although I think some of your prices are a bit high, but they are your items and you stated on your site that your items are based on prices you gathered around the net.

OK guys you really know how to make it tough on an old timer like me. However, you need to know where I’m coming from. Some time ago I sold an item on Craigs List for what seemed a fair price, and then found out later that the item was very valuable and I had lost a lot of money. So when I listed the items on my website I put them high enough so that wouldn’t happen again, but so I might get some interested parties and negotiate. However, since then I’ve seen prices for similar items that compare to some of the ones that I listed. So my asking for feedback from all of you was to try to find out what would actually be fair prices. You could say I was “using” you to help me work out fair prices. Apparently you all think the prices on my website are much too high. But if you’re so inclined, maybe you can give me a rough idea of the prices that you think are fair – not cut rate and not exorbitant. I do appreciate you feedback, even though it “burned” my ears .
