To turn the page on this topic, Here is a nice 3 ply top hat that I have. I already had the powertone. It was in really nice shape when I bought it (pic 1) but decided to give it a total cleaning (pic 2.) The following are post clean up.Dave

Totally sweet kit jdz. I have a blue sparkle that's in the Swingtime configuration with a PowerTone and I was fortunate enough to find a Top-Hat set early this year for fairly short $$, but that one is in blue onyx. My first kit was blue sparkle, so I remain very tied to that finish.

Thanks Dan,

"They can put a man on the moon", but for some reason they can't seem to duplicate 60's Blue Glass Glitter!

I was told when I bought these drums in South Florida that they had been in cases and stored for over thirty years by a Jazz drummer in NYC.

They are rust free and pristine.

I think TESLA might be able to make a proper blue glass if they put their minds to it. At least a few of us have the blue sparkle setups. Looks as if yours is a Bellson Citation (only the tom mount and spurs). Mine is a Swingtime with the hex rod for cymbal and Idrum4fun has a beautiful Headliner. Both are in 20, 12, 16, 5x14 configuration. I don't have a picture of mine setup but you get the idea with a stacked version. I have a 14x14 that came with it and found the 16x16 shortly afterwards. All 5 still pretty bright in color though maybe not as brilliant as yours. They are Dayton flat grey era.

That's a beautiful set you have there, Dan! As far as the hue of color on my set, it could be the quality of lighting on the stage (they use a combination of regular and LED stage lights). I figured mine was a Citation model, but I thought those came with a 14x14 FT.....which I would LOVE to have!

Current state of project of XP8 shells and Koa wood veneer. 6 (made from 2 Rogers bongo shells glued together) 8-10-12-14 (hanging tom to floor tom)-18 bass (floor tom conversion). Not totally practical, but put together "Just Because". . .

amosguy! Sometimes, it's those "just because" sets that are the most fun to play! What a cool set you've got there!

Quite a setup. Careful you don't crush that bass drum. LoLoLoLo
