You are selling yourself short (pardon the pun) if you settle for less than $800 on a no-issues 14x14. Frankly I would ask more.
I currently have two Rogers ohio kits with 14x14's, and one kit with the even more rare 16x14, in BDP. Sold a silver sparkle kit last year with a 14x14.
Heck, I sold a 70's red sparkle 3 ply Ludwig 14x14 a few months ago, no problem at all getting $700. Rogers should command significantly more than Ludwig.
Did you sell here, reverb or ebay?
A fair price to a guy who owns a vintage drum shop wouldn't be the same fair price to the guy who owns the rest of the drums that match this particular drum. To him (or her) the fair price might be a lot higher. When it comes to selling vintage stuff it's all about fishing...and where you cast your hook. We're just a bunch of old drum guys from the old days who think everything is priced too high and you're all a bunch of whipper-snappers! and stay off my lawn....j/k ;)
Good luck!
I put the ad up on DFO and several FB groups. It sold through a LW collectors FB page.
I have never sold on Ebay, due to the previously mentioned 'buyer-is-always-right' policy. I used to sell on Reverb, until they changed their policy awhile back where a seller can't actually touch their money until Reverb says so. So FB has worked great for me, regular paypal, and my reputation assures the buyer. And I do ship world-wide.
hehe hehe sarcasm he says....I also have a side hobby of collecting and fixing old Emerson fans...but it seems I got into the hobby a bit too late because a lot of those old fans are selling for over 10 thousand dollars and are all but impossible to find even if you have the money! Oh well. It just goes to show that things which used to be common, are no longer common. So, if you want something like that, then it's best to be prepared to pay BIG time for it. Soon, it might not be such a stretch to see some of these old vintage instruments on sale at Sotheby's or Christopher's...Why not? I just watched a show on YouTube about a Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster that was painted to look like the one that George Harrison had and painted with Day-Glo paint. It's not even the real thing or one-of-a-kind and it sold for $25K!
What? Show us a picture of a $10k Emerson fan... :) I had no idea.
I tried to find some old Emersons in that range and couldn't. Most of them are in collections. I'll find one and post it eventually. In the meantime, please enjoy this Bailey-Lee Presentation fan that sold for $30K awhile back...

My personal Emersons are a mint, all-original (except the cord) 71666 and a close-to-mint 29646. The 71666 would fetch substantial money not for it's rarity, but for its original condition. I probably exaggerated a bit. :)
After seeing your pictures, I would say that selling at $500 would be giving it away! Condition is everything and your 14x14 is in excellent condition. Blue Onyx Pearl was a popular finish and you should be able to sell your tom. Post it here and at DFO (drumforum.org)

You should easily get $1000 or more for your drum...the post stimulus check market for vintage drums seems to be strong.
I had my sights set on a 14x14 Rogers BDP recently offered on eBay. I was prepared to “pay up” for it, but when the bid went from $500 to about $1200 in the last few minutes, I couldn’t justify the expense, at least I chose not to TRY to justify the expense to my wife.
