I'm about to list for sale my Holiday 14" Floor tom. Condition is very good, purchased in 69 or 70. Number is 16130. What would be a good price and where would be the best place to list? Here, Reverb or Ebay.

Why don't you go for the gold? List it with Sotherby's for a reserve price of $3,000. (sarcasm alert)

I also have a side hobby of collecting and fixing old Emerson fans...but it seems I got into the hobby a bit too late because a lot of those old fans are selling for over 10 thousand dollars and are all but impossible to find even if you have the money! Oh well. It just goes to show that things which used to be common, are no longer common. So, if you want something like that, then it's best to be prepared to pay BIG time for it. Soon, it might not be such a stretch to see some of these old vintage instruments on sale at Sotheby's or Christopher's...Why not? I just watched a show on YouTube about a Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster that was painted to look like the one that George Harrison had and painted with Day-Glo paint. It's not even the real thing or one-of-a-kind and it sold for $25K!
Ok so the floor tom might not be in that category of pricing....yet....but don't be too surprised if the day comes!
But the main question is fair price...
What can I expect to get for it $400, $500 or more?
There was a time when Rogers 14" floor toms were commanding more than $1000. The market has certainly softened and I'd expect around $500+ would be fair. Condition plays into price. From just the one picture, your tom does look clean.
What we also need are more pictures. Are there any cracks in the wrap? These wraps were prone to cracking. A picture of the interior label would also be helpful. All original tension rods? What head is on the bottom? While original heads aren't that important, it can be a selling point for just a bit more money, especially if the heads are in great condition.
Listing here and on Reverb are good for non-auction prices. Naturally, eBay can get you more interested buyers along with higher prices in an "auction" setting. The downside are all the fees you'll lose to eBay and PayPal. Then there's the issue of some buyers that can make the seller's life a nightmare! They will nitpick EVERYTHING they find on the drum that wasn't specifically called out in the description and pictures!
I hope other members will come back with a reasonable price of worth...which is what you had originally asked for!
