Super B.... man just take what you like and leave the rest. There's nothing personal going on here... just opinions and points of view.

Ludwig Dude has been pretty jerky on this thread. It's not a big thing, I deal with jerks all the time, they're called soundmen. Just kidding. The hostility is a bit strange, due to such a harmless topic. It's not like I'm rewrapping a late 60's Ludwig Mod Orange kit. I wondered if anyone buried a cymbal. I did enjoy Ludwig Dude's story about Elvin Jones.

Luddydude is a passionate man...as we all are...about certain things. What you perceive as icky behavior is actually just him making a point and restating the point again.

He believes this entire question is flawed and was trying to derail the progress before someone did something bad to a perfectly good cymbal. This is on the same lines as stopping someone from drilling their sixty year old snare shell because they wanted to put a cooler throw on it.

Again, that's all this was. Passion to help.

You were asking a question about our experiences and he was saying don't ask 'cause it's a deadend. Some don't believe it to be and that's where we got tangled.

He's passionate, I'm too beautiful, Kevins has a jones for Quisp cereal, and you've got that Eydie Gorme record collection thing you try to hide. As odd as we are, we still love our drums and love to share. That's what it's all about here.

Too bad Ludwig Dude didn't tell the Elvin Jones story on the first page of the thread (instead of page 7). That is the kind of information that I was looking for...

From Ludwig-dude

BTW, this myth was started by Elvin Jones YEARS AGO when he was asked in an interview how he got such a great sound out of his cymbals. He said to the rather clueless interviewer that he gets them from the factory and burys them out in the backyard for five years then goes and digs them up after they have aged nicely. The guy believed him and printed the rather tounge-in-cheek remark. And since then we have people claiming to have tried burying a cymbal to see if there was any truth to it.

This thread is entertaining... I'm so old I'm playing Avedis from the 40's... All I know is that I like them so much, I'm going to have them buried with me when I die...

Burying them with you when you die is ok, just don't bury them before you die....thats the point I was trying to make.....lol!
