Bury a cymbal?

So.. just for fun.. since my percussion endeavors are strictly for fun.:D

I emailed this questioned/thread and a couple links to the the office of Material Science and Engineering at The Ohio State University.

"Materials Science and Engineering" is the broad term commonly used to refer to the study of such fields as metallurgy, ceramics, and advanced composites. In the field of MSE one explores how to process a material to get the atomic structure needed to bring about properties to meet desired performance requirements.

It will be interesting to see if they offer any response or opinion (probably not).... or maybe some kid can get a paper out of it.

Here is a link I never thought I would visit.. "Greatest Moments in Material Science and Engineering"

Can we stay on topic, please? Vintagemore 2000 has actual experience on this issue and I would like to hear more. Jim has also made things interesting, so, lets be mellow fellows.

super b thank you, i have posted a link a few post up that explains basically what i am doing, bronze doesn't rust, but it does corrode, which is bending or elongating the molecules, go read and maybe it will shed some light, i have owned well over a 1000 cymbals i bought out a closed music store cymbal inventory and played every single one and in 41 years have owned one or two in my time, i can tell the difference in a cymbal, and i do sound file the one's i have performed this process on, so i have 2 references to go by, as i have stated before, i have not suggested for you to do it, but the question was asked if anyone has done this and my answer was yes, i have explained to a previous forum member i have been at this so long, some time eloquence isn't my strong point any longer, guy's were all one big family here, drummers are the best musicians there are, and sometimes were going to rub each other the wrong way, but were all here to learn

Thanks vintagemore 2000, I like what you are posting. You are very interesting. You do not have to give away any secrets, but, what started the "bug" to bury some of your cymbals?
