Ya know, I like this place, but sometimes, it's the least active forum I have ever visited. I checked in a couple of times yesterday, and it looks like absolutely nothing has changed since then.
Is anybody alive out there? Maybe I'm just used to other forums with a lot of action, but jeez, sometimes this place is like a snoozefest.

Being a relative newbie here, I don't want to say to much, except to say that overall I'm definitely enjoying this forum and I'm learning a lot from the experienced drummers like yourself, but yeah, I kind of agree Bob. It seems like guys get hot for awhile and post like crazy, and then they sort of fade away for awhile.
My newbie enthusiasm is craving for more action!

Well, not all newbies just ask about value and what certain drums are worth.
Some of us are really here to learn and share in the fun that is vintage drumming. However, sometimes I feel that the old heads could do more to help the newbie feel more comfortable. For sure, some have been a great help to me, but sometimes I feel as though there are those that can chime in, but don't for whatever reason, as my posts are only answered by 1 or 2 members and unless I keep things going, my thread dies. It's not easy for an inexperienced newbie to jump into a forum like this, so maybe old heads could help a little more.
I agree that there is much research here that one can look up, but that's not the point of forums. Forums are about conversation, not research. If I want research, I'll go to Google. Newbies are excited and want the interaction.
Well said, Jim, and I'm glad to help anyone here, newbie or not, who has questions, or needs information. I'm not the world's greatest authority on vintage drums, but I have over fifty years as a working drummer.
When I see nothing changing in a 24 hour period, I have to wonder where everybody went for the weekend. I do agree there's plenty of good archived information here, but there must be more vintage drum enthusiasts out there who aren't members, or who are members and have dropped out of sight.
Yeah, activity has definitely slowed down here lately.
One thing about asking "what's it worth" is that not everyone asking is just jumping on this site looking for some quick information to make a sale. Trust me, my wife would confirm! Ha ha.
Like most enthusiasts or collectors of just about anything, people like to know what they have whether looking to sell or not.

I think a lot of us are on gigs. That could be an explanation for slow weekends. I have only been active here for a while, but was an occasional contributor for a period of time. I came when I had a question. Was this a much more active forum at one time than it is now?
I can't help but think that there must be more vintage drum guys/gals out there who either don't come here, used to come here and no longer do for whatever reason, or perhaps they don't know we exist. Maybe it would be wise for the admins to publicize the forum in a more effective way.
Hi There,I am a newbie and not a drummer but found this place because of my brother Richard.band3 He had several bands, the alley cats, the mulligans and another one, I forgot the name. Anyways he had a rogers drum kit and now because of a great member here, they are being restored and will be offered for sale. I have noticed here alot of discussion about drums. I have learned alot, but now do not have much to say. I have seen some pics of collections that are really amazing. I don't think though there is much in how to find you here. Catherine, we hope you'll stay, of course, even after your brother's set is sold. Who knows? You might become interested enough to learn to play drums. There are more and more women drummers out there these days, and many of them are incredible players. While drumming is still largely a male pursuit, ladies like Sheila E. and Cindy Blackman are making a lasting impression on the world of drumming.
