I,ve often felt this place is under rated, but its a vintage forum and a lot of younger players could care less about vintage so that leaves us old timers left. So we hang here to talk old drum/cymbals just like being at the barber shop on a rainy day. I like it here. I used to inquire about value and got little to no response, so I just sit and wait for something interesting to pop up
This Is The Least Active Forum Ever
Every time the Earth goes around that damn Sun, a bunch of us, including me, get another day older than your drums. Soon it'll be the tides I count. What I can't count is how many times I just read and not post. Reading is more fun than mental and all one needs most of the time here.

I've noticed the guys on Facebook know a whole lot less than VDF and DFO members. The worst part is they're convinced they know everything.
Currently looking for a 3-ply 24x14 Ludwig in champagne sparkle w/rail consolette and cymbal mount!
Let's don't forget that this is a very specialized forum in a narrow portion of the musical universe. I think Tommyp hit the nail on the head with his summation and how folks are just more into FB. Me, not so much.
I find FB counter-intuitive, harder to navigate and certainly way more challenging to gather information. I'm a member of three drum forums and if any were to fold, I wouldn't look to FB for an alternative.
I enjoy the VDF and come here as often as possible. But I gig on Saturday nights D' Drummer
I’m always involved as to the bits , the same thing over again and again but it s fun when a new thread pops up and Everyone chimes in
I’m thinking the knowledge needs to be archived somehow , as when we are gone so will it be gone the way of the dodo bird , and a few examples of our old drums will appear in a museum or on the wall at hard rock , or a estate sale or good will
So be it I’m all sold out but for a few odds and ends and my keeper kit I’ll be buried with
Just kidding

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
I'm not saying it isn't. Nobody is.
I'm just saying that traffic here can be non-existent at times. I usually gig weekends like a lot of us, but I always check during the day, and multiple times on Sundays, because I'm usually home.
I belong to the Slingerland and MIJ drum groups on FB, but rarely look there for whatever reason. I'd just like to see more participation here. band3
I drop in here every couple of days.... Still my favourite site for referencing details from the experts. There was more activity here when I got involved around 8 years ago, but still is a great place to drop in. I have learnt so much from here & I do try to offer back some info whenever I can. I now too spend time on a few FB pages and it is great to meet & put faces to some names that I know from here.
I have had some great communications from VDF members over the years , have dealt with some of you, and have met a few of you in the flesh.
I'll continue to drop in here as long as my butt sits on a drum throne...
Cheers
John

Great posts, as always.
For myself, I visit each morning and afternoon. I usually don't post in the mornings (today excepted) but review in the afternoon. Usually, what limited knowledge I could have shared has been covered through the day, so reading the afternoon posts is about all I generally do.
Love this Forum .. !!
Ya know, I like this place, but sometimes, it's the least active forum I have ever visited. I checked in a couple of times yesterday, and it looks like absolutely nothing has changed since then.Is anybody alive out there? Maybe I'm just used to other forums with a lot of action, but jeez, sometimes this place is like a snoozefest.
Yea I'm out here - I like this place. I like the "drum talk" here at the barber shop. If I have something I feel is worthwhile to contribute I'll post it but I don't feel an obligation to post for the sake of posting - sorry. I don't consider myself an expert on much of anything but I first picked up a pair of sticks in 1957 an never got over the joy of being a drummer so I guess you could say I've been around the block. This place gives me my "drum fix" and I enjoy it a lot - Thanks !!
Excuse me ... I need a nap
