By all means, please message him!-Mark

I did! I sent him a carefully worded message last night, asking why he had two distinctly different prices on this drumset. I also told him that I had no selfish interest in buying them and that in my professional opinion as a longtime drummer and self-appointed "expert," he had very little chance of getting $1899-2500 for the drums. I made it clear that I was trying to help him sell the set in good faith. No response yet. I would bet he'll either ignore me, or tell me to go to hell.

I also should have told him to lose the plastic covers on his couch! LOL!

OK, the seller got back to me with a pleasant response, although I don't understand his thought process:

"I’m aware of this... The price increase was deliberate to discourage potential bidders. Thanks for the heads up!"

I advised him to list the drums with a BIN on both Ebay and Reverb for $649 with shipping within the USA free. Let's see what happens.

DrumBob! That's great that you did message the seller. He really is a nice guy, but clueless! Still doesn't make sense "to discourage potential bidders" with the high price increase. Why not just end the auction?

Even at $649 with free shipping on both sites, that's still way too much for what these drums truly are... a beat-up kit that has seen better days! And, I guess that's what really bothers me the most... someone who refuses to take the advice of knowledgeable people and advertise the drums for what they truly are. I can imagine how upset and angry a buyer would be when the kit arrives and is found out to be so far from how they have been described!

Thanks for taking the time to contact him!

You're welcome. No problem. I wished him good luck selling them and again told him I had his best interest in mind, but ultimately, they're his drums. He can do what he wants with them, and I see no point in losing sleep over the situation, right? Let it go.

Either he'll come to his senses, or he'll hook a sucker who'll get burned on a beat up drumset. Maybe the seller will throw in the plastic covering on the couch to seal the deal! Maybe even one of the yappy dogs!

Hey DrumBob! I completely agree with everything you said. I did the best I could to educate the seller, but it fell on deaf ears. Time to let it go!
