Value of this Slingerland kit

From JimmySticks

So the seller finds out his kit has real issues and is not nearly as pristine as he thought it was, and he more than doubles the starting bid? And that BIN? Sheesh! What is he thinking?Seriously perplexing...

Yes, very perplexing! I'm at a loss to understand his thought processes on this kit! The only parts really salvageable would be the COB hoops. I'm not sure I would even waste my time attempting to clean all the tension rods and lugs. There are just too many nice Slingerland kits available to waste time with the overall condition and what the amount the seller is asking!

I'm tempted to text him and ask what's up with his new pricing, but I'm done with this. Anyone who has followed this offering is aware that there was no interest at both the $999.99 and $799.99 starting prices. The new price is a slap in the face to the vintage drumming community!

The plastic covered gold couch is a huge “red flag” that you are dealing with someone who struggles with reality.

I immediately noticed the ornate style of the house when I walked in. And, yeah, who plastic encloses furniture any more?!! The drums were set up in the entryway. Just around the corner where about 6 small yapping dogs that I wanted to shoot! Their barking was insane! As long as I was out of their line of sight, they settled down.

The bottom line is that he'll be stuck with these sadly abused vintage Slingerland drums, unless he can wake up to reality and practically give them away to someone who has the time, skill...and money...to restore them. Not saying it can't be done, but for the vast majority of us, it's just not worth our time and money.

Mark, that's the seller's GD problem. You spoke to him in good faith. He obviously has a twisted mind...or he's smoking crack cocaine and is out of his mind! I was tempted to email him and tell him he has no chance of getting this new price, but changed my mind. band2

Hey Mark, sorry it didn't work out better for you. What was up with the BD badge grommet? Looked like it had four notches in it?

Yes, I noticed that when checking out the kit. My guess is that something 4-sided was jammed down into the grommet. Maybe some type of tool?

I was being hopeful when I arrived, but the kit quickly turned to disappointment and I knew it wasn't worth my time, effort and money to get the kit.

I did message the seller, through eBay, to ask about the incredible price increase after spending so much time to educate him on what he really has. Guess it went in one ear and out the other!

Time to move on. He's a nutcase. Six yappy little dogs and plastic covers on his couch? Definitely a turnoff! That tells you something right there.

He's back to asking $999 again. Still delusional.

Yes, $999 on Reverb. But, still $1899.99 or $2500 BIN on eBay!

I like this part on Reverb... "This item is sold As-Described and cannot be returned unless it arrives in a condition different from how it was described or photographed." It's described as "Overall condition very good to excellent." Since the kit is "fair" at best, I'd buy the kit and then return it just to screw with him!!
