Ludwig 75th Anniversary "Eagle" Kit for Sale on Ebay-Big Beat Configuration

Loading...

Not mine. Another member here perhaps? The seller mentions a re-pro front head. Thought I remember someone on here making one as well.

EBay Item Number: 264184223770

Looks like it's all original. Standard depth, "Big Beat" Configuration. Comes with a nice looking 75th Anniversary Supra. Not a bad price. Only 2 days left. Seller is in Mississippi. Someone should get these!

Pictures for posterity.

Always wanted one of these kits. Unfortunately no space for it right now. And it's actually at a good price compared to others I have seen.

No Guru - I just love collecting & learning about vintage drums!

Some of my favorites from the kits in the collection
58 WFL New Yorker Blue Sparkle
67 Ludwig Hollywood Red Psychedelic
69 Ludwig Standard Red Ruby Strata
70's Ludwig BOP "Ringo" Kit

A few of my favorite snares
20's Leedy Black Elite
51 Leedy & Ludwig Knob Tension
58 WFL Buddy Rich Classic Blue Sparkle
63 Walberg & Auge Sea Blue Agave Green Pearl
66 Leedy Shelly Manne Blue Agate Pearl

Why do the badges look blank?

Why do the badges look blank?

At the time (1984), Ludwig was still using the Blue/Olive badges, just before they went to the Black/White badges. I think these badges were a one off for these kits because Ludwig wanted to harken back to the "Keystone Era". I guess they figured they didn't need to use serial numbers because the eagle inlays themselves would be an indication of when they were made.

I never liked the look of those. The birds look more like pigeons than eagles (to me).

Really. Those things would never darken my door. Ugly as hell. Can't imagine what Bill Ludwig was thinking when he dreamed those up.

If it sells for the price it's at now it would be a steal. The snare drum should be worth the bulk of the price (as of now) and the toms are standard sized.

I don't understand the lack of print on the badges. The few '84 drums I've owned with keystone badges had print on them.

Well, you're welcome to them, and I think Psych Red was one great finish. Different strokes...
