Ludwig 75th Anniversary "Eagle" Kit for Sale on Ebay-Big Beat Configuration

Loading...

The bottom line is that this is a rare kit and it's in pretty darn good condition! The Big Beat configuration is much more desirable than the power tom version! My Ludwig 1984 catalog shows the power tom version, but does mention the part number if you wanted the Big Beat kit!

The opening price is more than realistic and I have it feeling it will end at a reasonable profit for the seller!

Here are some pictures of an Eagle kit I downloaded from eBay back in 2005. I don't know if it sold. I have pictures of another Eagle kit from 2009. Both kits had Power Toms, 12x12 and 13x13. The current eBay offering is the only one I've seen in a Big Beat configuration.

There may have been other Eagle kits for sale, but I usually only download pictures of kits that are in pretty good condition!

Clubdate64 has the dealer's catalog for this year. From looking at one page he posted, the list price for a 5 piece kit was about $2k, which would be about $5k today. I wonder if the catalog has this anniversary kit listed.

I never liked the look of those. The birds look more like pigeons than eagles (to me).

Yup. Me too.

Inlay different woods, then maybe they won`t look like pigeons.

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

I like the set, but I certainly understand your point. The attached silhouette is of a pigeon, the mighty symbol of New York City! Yes Sir It looks strikingly like the inlay on the drums.

Traditional depth drums in this series = uggh. Power tom version = double uggh. Of course, those of you, who like these things, might not like my choices of drums.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

From frantic freddie

Why do the badges look blank?

Not sure. Those should be the Chicago large keystone badges which were only in use for about a year (1984) . Ludwig continued to use that design after that but the location on the bottom of the badge changed to Monroe after the move from Chicago in 1984-85..

My guess is that the change back to the keystone shape was tied into the anniversary but it may have just been a coincidence. In any event they dropped the B/O badge at that point for a number of years.
