This is a rewrap. Original rogers wrap. but a rewrap. the value is diminished. The interior has been refinished. 1000-1500. And that's giving it a few hundred it does not deserve. The Bell is cracked... so to speak. It has been fiddled with.

Awwwh. How disappointing! So someone got hold of original, unused Blue Ripple and rewrapped this shell? Then the seller's not really being forthcoming or accurate when he states, "Only thing not original to this drum are the heads, frame to strainer cords".

It's fortunate for us that you have some inside knowledge about these things, so thanks for sharing that. Now how did someone find original Blue Ripple wrap? Are there still rolls of unused vintage wrap lying about out there? I wouldn't mind getting my hands on some.

The seller does mention about the re-wrap. His posting does say "The faded, damaged wrap was removed & a brand new piece stored from Rogers original wrap stock was perfectly installed...

So ..... this beauty could pass for a floor sample in the day.... you'll never find that anywhere .... ever!"

I asked, very politely mind you, about his thoughts on price, considering this is still a re-wrap. Let's see how he responds. The seller has had other drums in this wrap, also Red Ripple Pearl, over the years.

I think this drum has been for sale several times, unless he has made multiple units from the blue ripple stock he located. I believe the last previous price was a hair under $2k.

If I had a set of blue ripple drums, I would not hesitate to buy this one for that price, simply because it is original wrap and the work was well done overall. However, the likelihood of finding the set makes it a moot thought. I think I have seen one or two kits in this finish where the wrap had not failed. I got a steel grey ripple Headliner back in 2000 or so and it included a 14x14 in blue ripple which I quickly sold off. Minor regrets, but in truth I've only seen one bass available in the last 18 years and never saw the tom.

PS - A look through the gallery seems to indicate that nobody else has a blue ripple beavertail set either.

I do. 20-13-16 Early First Gen Beavertails with a matching BB Powertone. All 1963 numbers. But, the Dyna-Sonic has condition issues with the refinish in the interior. Seriously, it does not matter how nice one makes a rewrap appear... it isn't original. Even in this color.

A great looking snare drum. As Ploughman says the drum is not in original condition. One little point if it were never mentioned about wrap being a re wrap would anyone have known. As for the interior I'm not the Rogers expert but I trust Ploughmans word on this drum. Be interesting to see just how much it sells for. On the plus side it is a great Rogers snare drum. Looks fab and it would still look great in a collection for what it is.

With only 2 pictures showing partial shell interior, what exactly are you referring to? The description says the interior is original. Please let us know what you are seeing that others are not.

While I do think the seller takes poetic license with his verbiage, I do have a thought about the "rewrap". There were plenty of times that factory wrap wasn't installed correctly and had to be removed and reapplied. I would think that it's possible that the same piece of wrap may not have been reused. Does that make the second piece of wrap not original? Based on this theory, what's the difference in removing the worn original wrap decades later and installing original Rogers Blue Ripple wrap? Would it be that the glue isn't the same as used in the 60's?

Just thoughts I had and wanted to share. Feedback?
