Extra Holes and Loss of Value

Loading...

I'm looking at a 14x14 Ludwig online that has a few extra holes. They're small, maybe the size of a lug mount hole but certainly no larger. They were drilled cleanly causing no damage to the shell. For a drum that's in otherwise great condition (but not a museum piece), what does this do to the value?

The seller ultimately determines the value, but what do you believe is a realistic difference in price between an unmolested drum and one with a few extra holes?

Depends on 14" downbeat vs clubdate; wrap. Photos help always. Those few extra holes = @ 25% deduction. $400 CD FT = 300; 700 DB FT = 525.

Think also the rarer the wrap the more diminished the 25% becomes. IOW, 14" OBP FT will have 15-20% deduction.

I'm pulling this OOMA - but I think it's a rough way of how I SEE THINGS.

2 SOLD on ebay : 675 + 750.

Another factor: is it local / cash? NO : 500+/-. YES : 400+. I would NOT go above $500.

But another consideration : how bad u want/need it?

I'ts not a local sale and I want it pretty bad. I've got a 12 and 20 I'd group it with to round out an orphan Downbeat.

DON'T DO IT! That's ridiculous. Those holes knock it down to 500 easily. WAIT for one on ebay (or reverb - which I don't like) - put a SAVE A SEARCH on ebay and one will come up. The 2 above sold Nov 24 + 27.

And you'll get one with holes cheaper; or 1 with no holes for 600-700.

Thanks, Hobbs. I appreciate your insight. I'll see how much wiggle room there is. Don't know how long he's been trying to sell it so he might be motivated and drop the price considerably. The holes don't bother me as much as the potential wait for another B/O to come along.

IT'S A B/O 70's BADGE. Then that cat is WAY the H EEE double-L over what these go for!!!

I thought you were talking 60's KEYSTONE.

A red sparkle went for roughly 400 : https://www.ebay.com/itm/LUDWIG-BLUE-OLIVE-70s-14-X-14-RED-SPARKLE-FLOOR-TOM-/142570671829?hash=item2131dfced5%3Ag%3AlOUAAOSwSrNaAdQs&nma=true&si=nQ5xzfMcUkwMmS4L1hKdmKwLerw%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

BLOODY HOLES = $300 - 375. A B/O badge might be a little more difficult to pin down - I think.
