Extra Holes and Loss of Value

From Hobbs

IT'S A B/O 70's BADGE. Then that cat is WAY the H EEE double-L over what these go for!!!I thought you were talking 60's KEYSTONE. A red sparkle went for roughly 400 : https://www.ebay.com/itm/LUDWIG-BLUE-OLIVE-70s-14-X-14-RED-SPARKLE-FLOOR-TOM-/142570671829?hash=item2131dfced5%3Ag%3AlOUAAOSwSrNaAdQs&nma=true&si=nQ5xzfMcUkwMmS4L1hKdmKwLerw%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557BLOODY HOLES = $300 - 375. A B/O badge might be a little more difficult to pin down - I think.

This is the first 3-ply champagne B/O 14x14 I've come across. I'm trying to complete a collection of B/O champagne toms and this would be the last size I need... unless I happen across a 20x18...

Don't do it! Not for $720 anyway. Offer him a fair price, but don't pay more than it's worth just because you're impatient, believe me, in the long run you'll regret it. As soon as you fork over what he's asking, another one in better condition will pop up at a lower price.

Have you tried starting a post in the "Wanted" section? I'd try that before paying that kind of money, see if anyone here has what you want.

I agree. Hold off. One will show up sooner or later. Any extra holes in drums just kill it for me. It's your hard earned cash. Spend it wisely.

I'm not sure if the extra holes skunk the deal for me. I know if a drum popped up soon after that wasn't drilled I'd be bummed that I didn't wait, but on the other hand, I'm not looking for a museum piece. I just want to make sure I don't over pay, which it seems like I would be haha

I've considered making a wanted post, but one benefit to buying it off eBay is that I can finance through PayPal. Not sure if that would be an option through a private sale, even if using PayPal.

You didn't explain anything about the holes. If the previous owner removed the internal tone control, would you claim that there are two extra holes in shell?

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

No, since those could serve a purpose. They're in a rectangular pattern, as if they were used for a rail mount. The current owner doesn't know why they were drilled but said he doesn't believe they would have been used for a rail. The spacing is also far too small for a rail.
