Not sure about the Sonor Keys but Slotted Premier ones typically go for about 30 to 75 U.S. dollars on eBay, more if they're mint. I just use a screw driver.

As for dating your snare, if you pop the top you'll note that there should be a month and year number stamped on the inside wall, if you want to narrow it down. Mine is 7-75 for July of 1975. I'm not certain what benefit it is knowing but I do nonetheless.

One more thing. I tend to be a research nut (caught the bug in college). I have 35 different Premier catalogs of both hard and digital copy dating from 1925 to 1994. If you find out the year of your 2000 and care for more info, let me know.

Wow...that's a lot for a drum key. No thanks. My Dad owns a machine shop, they do high end work (military, etc). I'll give him a tension rod, he'll autocad a couple keys for me. Done.

Sad truth is that my 2000 lives at home covered by a giant sound deadener on my practice kit so it's no biggie to take the head off. I bought it to play live but have only taken it with me a few times. The thought of dropping it or of it getting banged around makes me cringe. . . so I just play on the crappy 50 dollar Pearl can that came with the Export set.

Yep yep yep. Reading over that makes me feel like I'm 50 going on 10.

Me thinks I've done it. Turns out my memory is as faulty as my 32nd rolls.

Date in Premier 2000 is actually 7 May 1975 (or maybe 17). It's also inked rather than engraved so it's possible that yours has been wiped off. Don't know why someone would do that, though.

Date is on the handle side of the drum / flow beam.

Off hand, I don't remember when Premier changed the name badge but they did from time to time. It would help to date yours if date were missing.
