Hey fellow Vistalites!

1978 Vintage Ludwig Vistalite 4pc “Tequila Sunrise” Drum Set

I'm preparing to list this set for sale and am curious as to any feedback drummers may have on this set.

Here's part of my write up on it:

Officially, this color scheme is called the “Pattern B” 5 Band Rainbow, and includes a 12x8” and 13x9” mounted Toms, a 16x16” Floor Tom, and a 22x14” Base Drum. I have owned this drum set since buying it used in 1978. After meticulously cleaning every part, I reassembled the set, bought new heads, and am now ready to sell this great piece of Ludwig history!

Over the last year I’ve been searching the internet and have yet to find another 5 Band set with this color pattern, so you could be looking at a rare kit!

Thanks for reading!

I've played at least a hundred gigs with these Vistas over the last 15 years (in and out of my kit rotation). No cracks other than the one small one they had when I bought them.

What is the reso head of choice for Vistalites?

I am going to buy heads pretty soon.

I am going to get Ludwig Chrome Dots for the batters and clears for the resos but I am not sure what weight head people use on the resos.

I have never owned a set of Vistalites before now.

The Dot batter heads are like an Ambassador with a dot.

What are the clear batters that people like to use?

Thanks in advance. flower

On my toms I use Clear Evans G2's, clear G1's on bottom. On the bass drum I have a Remo Powerstroke Pro. Man with the G2's my toms sounds so beefy. I have a 14"x10" & 16"x16". Really good head combination for these drums. At least for me.

18 Kits & 40+ snares..

The Ludwig mediums are the same weight as a Remo Diplomat. (which is what I always use on resos)

I think I am going with Ludwig chrome dots on batter and the medium clears on reso.

I was just curious what other people use. :)
