Finish the claws in DAWN. Check after 24 (for sure) but it may take longer. You will have pitting, but the Dawn will finish it off for ya. Good you found a couple better ones. Those should not be too hard to find if you still need to replace a couple.Awesome!I indeed DO have some chrome parts that are too far gone (and other smll bit parts) and I will try this the vinegar method in the next 3-4 days.John

Hi John. What is Dawn? Dish washing product? I'm in europe, some brands I see here in VDF are unknown to me.

The Fairy is very popular here. Thanks for the clarification.

Cheers.

I just took off the claws from vinegar, ~ 22 hours later.

I scrubbed them with a toothbrush to remove the rust. It came off easily outside but, due to some very affected spots inside, I changed the vinegar and put them again. They will stay another day to ensure that all spots become clean.

Stay tunned.

I'm progressively working on a set of those Tama claws and & T's too..

I have done the vinegar plus the Dawn bath... Claws were in better condition than yours to begin with, so are looking good.

With the "satin looking" T's finish, I am using some metal polish with a toothbrush to get in to the low bits.. (removes that cloudy look)..

Cheers

Hi John. Can you post the result photos please?

I'm curious about the Dawn effect.

I would finish those off (especially any that are being stubborn) with the green bottle:

Turtle Wax Chrome Polish and Rust Remover. (It is the same product - that's what it's called, multi-purpose I suppose). It is REALLY affordable - like $2something at Wal-Mart.

I try to use it on everything after the Dawn treatment. Not only does it refine the shine, but it also leaves a layer of wax behind for long term protection.

Those Claws really came around though! Trust me on the TW - a MUST in the toolbox of restoration. Use with a Micro-fibre clothe, another MUST.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!
