Meazzi was an Italian Company. So given the Japan thing, I would think that unlikely.

you are the best I will try to get the pictures soon as I am not with the drums right now - I do know they are japanese but more importantly is there any brand associated or were there just unmarked run of the mill japanese drums back in the 60's? I am assuming 60's due to the type of tom mount
Pics of the snare strainer, FT legs, BD legs/spurs please - it would really help.
got the snare pictures - i didn't think we had the snare but we do !!
The lugs, tom mount, and wing screws all point to Star.
I think it´s not STAR! Looks more like a Pearl related Stencil Kit....
It´s a nice kit by the way;-)

You may have a vintage Boosey and Hawkes drum kit
Looked at these several times and can't put a finger on it. Familiar with Pearl, Star, and Hoshino, and I would say that Pearl seems the closest in my opinion, but I can't see any definitive details to confirm. Inside shell shots might be helpful, and you could always try removing a lug, to see if there is any identifying info inside lug. Wrap also appears different than usual MIJ. Have not seen these lugs before...
I see MIJ for sure. The muffler tensioner is the same as the last 2 Pearl-made Bollero kits I had. I've never seen that tom mount though.
The thing that is throwing me is the mount fon the bass drum for the tom. I've never seen anything like it. Haha it's so funny can't find anything like it anywhere. Crazy. I'm sure someone out there will be able to look and see exactly what it is. Right now it's just japanese mystery brand to me.
