LaBoz kit in Blue Marine Pearl

Loading...

I found this five piece Laboz kit earlier today

The drums look to be well used yet still about 98% complete

missing are a few wing screws and one straight floor tom leg

(one of the three FT legs in these pictures is actually a drum stick)

from these seller's pics I can account for only two of the five drums

definitely having the LaBoz badges intact

The seller has the drums stored at his parent's home

and could not confirm for me the status of the other badges

note the whitish discoloration on the mounted tom

The seller explained it was duct tape residue

the tape was used to keep the bass mounted cymbal arm supported

(it looks to me as though at least one of the two mounting bolts on the cymbal arm bracket is either broken or missing entirely)

Great seller, very easy going, he took my 50.00 paypal deposit

removed the Craig's listing for the drums

and gave me ten days to get up to Salem Mass

(about an hour and forty minutes from me) with the one hundred dollar balance for the kit

I hope those other LaBoz badges are intact

they are my main motivating factor for wanting the drums

Hello R.Adam McHugh

Yes as Jay said MIJ all the way

I have heard of them before

but aside from one orphaned tom shell that I found at a drum shell graveyard sale

stripped of everything save for just that cool LaBoz badge

This is the only full kit I have run into

and I do a lot of looking I know there are members that have LaBoz drums

hopefully they will see this, and will feel welcome to post up some pics of their kits

Hello Jay

I appreciate the heads up on how to edit the thread title

I made the correction now.......... Thanks a million pal

No problem my friend, had to do it myself a few times.

And the drum graveyard sale, was that at Al Drew's Music? I keep seeing them post on CL about it, and have been tempted to grab a van and head out. But I'm afraid I'll get there to nothing, lol

Jay you are correct about Al Drew's

I have not been in for three or four months

In the first few visits (about a year and a half ago)

I went home with my Honda wagon fully loaded with mij drum shells

about three or four separate times

The last few times it was hard to find anything useable

in fact when you see the pictures of the selection in the Craigs list ad

most of what is mij in those shots is all stuff I have here now

most of what was left over then, were some American made marching shells

and some really stripped and/or picked over MIJ in too rough a condition to salvage

Dave Drew the owner is a good guy and sure gave me some excellent deals

but again, on my last visit, there was not much for a mij enthusiast to sink his teeth into

I wish now I had bought that LaBoz shell with the badge ..but I had little use for it then

Hey Jay

I just noticed that although I made the correction to my thread title

It did not correct itself as it is listed on the entire vintage non- USA board

The typo is still reading blue marie rather blue marine

also note in your next, as well as all of your past replies they will display the original mis-spelling in the Re:

Even with my own new replies here, I must edit the title each time hmmmm?

Yea, I was mainly gonna go out there for project drums. Wasn't looking for any MIJ or American in specific. But figured if I could get a good load it would be worth it.

And interesting with the title, I thought it would have changed itself in the board as well. Hmmmm

Yep that's what happens with the titles. :)

Hey when you get that kit, be sure to set it up exactly as pictured! :)
